Did the Mets win last night? I may not have watched a game since 4/9, but every game since then I had at least checked the final score before going to bed.

I was at the game last night. It was the first time I've been to Citi Field, nice park.

Nice and unexpected sweep. Carrasco came in, gave up back-to-back doubles, and will apparently be sent to the minors on Tuesday when Young is activated.

    I hope you're being sarcastic...

But yeah, that was an awesome series.

And good move to keep Gee up and send down Carrasco. Stay with the hot hand.

At least Alderson gave Carrasco a 2-year deal. Phew.

Little is being said about Issy , his impact in the 8th compared to that useless fucker Parnell has been excellent.

Ref my comment earlier, ref Davis / Wright , I overegged the 2 x player admittedly BUT I think whilst DW has undeniably put up good numbers during his time he has failed to come through in so many clutch situations that he almost is the face of why the mets failed .Talented but not when the going gets tough. Is he a victim of circumstances maybe but a great player comes good when the times get hard , I can remember him vanishing ( admitedly along with the rest ) during the fun days when we go chased down by the Phillies.

We need a new identity , Davis to me has potential to be a Gonzalez/ type 1st base man which is enough to see a line up built around him. I think the fanbase can identify with him as he grows and take the pressure off Wright which should be good for us all.

The only problem I had with that game was Davis AB against the lefty with the bases drunk. It really looked like he changed his approach and looked like me playing wiffle ball. He should have stayed within his game and not gone for the jack there.

This is not correct. Wright's batting stats in September/October of 2007 were .352 BA / .432 OBP / .602 SLG, and in September/October of 2008 they were .340 BA / .416 OBP / .577 SLG. There is absolutely no way that he should be blamed for the 2007/2008 collapses.

In fact, blaming the hitters in general in 2007 doesn't make much sense, since in the 5-12 collapse down the stretch the Mets scored an average of 5.8 runs per game; is it the hitters' fault that the pitchers gave up an average of 6.8 runs per game during that stretch? The 2008 disaster was more of a team effort, but several of the hitters still did their jobs, and among them only Delgado and Beltran were better than Wright down the stretch.

If you're looking for a star who cost the Mets big-time in 2007 and 2008, look to Wright's left - Reyes was absolutely awful both years when the team was collapsing.

I absolutely agree, I think it was in 2007 when Wright was absolutely on fire down the stretch yet the Mets continued to lose.

What the two people above me said. Davis is awesome to watch, and quickly becoming one of my favorite players, but Wright is still the better baseball player.
