I see your point but I also think there are gonna be A LOT of Cowboys fans at New Meadowlands Stadium to start the season. I almost feel like I find more people rooting for their so called "America's Team" in the Metropolitan area than I find rooting for the Jets. And for those who would prefer Giants vs Jets on 9/11, I like the inclusion of the Redskins in the 9/11 games. Jets represent New York at home, and the Giants represent New York in Washington, which was also a big target of terrorist attacks on 9/11. I think it was planned pretty well to be honest. And absolutely NOTHING beats rubbing in a Jets win to my extended family of Giants fans in their own living room on Christmas Eve!
There's also the possibility (if small) that the game means absolutely nothing in late December, for all we know we could be locked into the 5-6 seed again and they could be out of the playoffs. Francesar's killing the Giant-Jet Christmas Eve game now...no buildup to that game, the world shuts down the next day, you can't make Christmas Eve about the game, it's just wrong.
It is a 1:00 PM game so that's the good part. Most Christmas eve Parties we go to start around 7-8ish anyway. I'm looking forward to it, should just make that Holiday weekend even more fun.
I agree with MBP. Actually, it would be even better if they had made it the Christmas Night game, because that's always a down time for me after 24 hrs of feasting ... but Christmas Eve is fine with me.
I hope the Jets never have another home Thanksgiving Day game in my lifetime. I am fine watching the Lions and Cowboys on TV.
For the players, it's about the best case scenario. A 1:00 Christmas Eve game would allow the players and coaches from both teams to be home for the evening. My guess is that had something to do with it. If these two teams have to play each other according to the schedule, and there have to games on Christmas Eve, have them both play at their home stadium that particular day.
