    My final Jets mock draft.

    No trades, difficult to predict.

Jets address the lines early in this draft using BPA.

I expect the Jet's to address Safety and Corner after Free Agency is back

Rd 1) Cameron Heyward, DE, Ohio State....BPA available on the Jet's board and address huge need with the advanced age of Ellis. I don't believe we resign Ellis if we draft Heyward.

Rd 3) Sione Fua, NT, Stanford...the other Sione can't be the only answer, he'll wear down or get hurt. Fua is an excellent run stopper and anchored Stanford's line. Visited Floram Park last week!! I really wanted Safety, Jaquan Jarrett in Rd 3, Jets are very high on Jarrett. I don't think he'll be available, Philly has had 2 visits and is going to probably draft Jarrett in rd 3.

Rd 4) Jah Reid, OT, UCF....Could step in a RT right away. Huge RT, 6'7" 325lbs. Has played RT for years at UCF, good feet and strenght. Has visited with the Jets and scouts are very high on Reid's potential. More depth and competition.

Rd 5) Steven Friday, DE/OLB, Virigina Tech.....a solid player that should show good off the edge rushing. Has played well against some good OT's like Castonzo. Pace and Thomas are still Jets and the addition of Heyward can only help Friday make plays.

Rd 6) Jeremy Kerley, WR, TCU....smaller under 5'10' WR, very fast, quick feet. Excellent hands and is an outstanding kickoff returner. Visited Floram Park and the I think Jet's like what they saw.

Rd 7) Brian Lainhart, FS, Kent State....Jets were one of the few teams at Kent State's proday. Lainhart is a ballhawk!!! Has the potential to be a solid starter, very underrated.

you're really bent on the Jets getting Heyward eh?

He certainly fills a need....but he's not my first choice.

I remember last year at this time, nobody would've predicted Kyle Wilson falling into our laps. I'm hoping Watt, Aldon Smith or Cameron Jordan falls into our laps THIS year.....we need some more of that draft board magic to happen.

Again...I use the Kyle Wilson situation as "exhibit A".

    never give up hope.

Besides, you're the one who preaches that "anything can happen at the draft". :)

  5. I wouldn't be upset w/ this scenario...However it does still leave us w/ a dire need for a speed rusher off the edge ready to contribute immediately.

    Don't under estimate Steven Friday.

You're right, but Wilson was closer to falling last year than the 3 DEs you mentioned this year. I can't see any of the 3 getting passed San Diego.

I'd say a Gabe Carimi or Jimmy Smith could fall to our pick at 30 more so than Watt Jordan or Aldon. And it still like " Kyle Wilson type value" meaning a position we never reapply considered in the first but the value is huge.

Overall WW your draft isn't a popular consensus type draft with those spectacular names but it really addresses what we need. Like you have stated we need more line to create more pass rush and you certainly did it hear, I'm not 100% on Fua, I like him but I just don't like that he lacks that big time explosiveness, he uses his strength well but his burst just lacks on tape. I could be wrong of course. Id rather take a safety at that pick over a NT and get a NT later on.

Reid and Friday are sleepers, they are MEAN players and definite gamers. I'm not sure Friday is at our pick in the 5th though I think he goes higher.

Lainhart I've always been a fan of, as you can see in my earlier mocks, he needs polish and to learn how to read QBs but he has a great chance to be a solid free safety.

Edit: oops didn't see you picked Kerley, I like that pick ALOT the kid has some sick speed and good hands, slot potential for sure.

Just curious, how do you guys find out who the Jets are high on that they have visited? I've found articles about who they've visited, but haven't seen much about who they like best. Inside sources?

I never follow the "herd' when it comes to selecting players. The Jets can't address all their needs with 6 picks and no 2nd Round selection and no free agency before the draft.

I tried to address needs in the anticiapation of no Ellis, Woody and one of our wideouts possibily being gone. Getting Kerley who is a good Wr with excellent Special team ability was important. We need to add another returner!!

I believe I picked the BPA at each spot and also players the Jets have showed interest.

KFFL & Roto are 2 excellent sources for visits.

As far as the Jets' liking a player, it's all speculation by draft people based on visits, proday reactions and meetings. No team is going to say "I love this player before the draft".

I like this, but I'm a Vlad the Impaler supporter, so taking an offensive lineman over a pass rusher just isn't the right move IMO.

To me, it would just tell us that the coaching staff has little-to-no faith in Ducasse ATM.

I like Vlad, but drafting players is not about hurting feelings. Competition is what will even make Vlad a better player. If the Jets can add depth and a possible starter on the O-line, I'm all for it.

I'm not too sure Wayne Hunter is going to be a Jet in 2011.

Honestly, I couldn't find a pass rusher I liked in Rd 4 over Jah Reid.

    WW85,

Excellent job. I'm still not sold on Heyward as the best pick, but is highly-rated and is probably one of the safest picks, as he'll be a solid rotational player or starter at the very least.

I agree that the NT spot needs to be shored up, and as early as possible. I like Fua. I'd rather have Jarrett too, but as you say, it look as if Philly will take him first. Question...if Jarrett is still there, would you take him over Fua and hope to get Ian Williams, Chris Nield or Powe later?

I really like Kerley. I'd be very excited to get him. I had forgotten about Lainhart. I haven't seen him play, but like what I've read about him.

The only picks I question are Reid and Friday. I understand Reid with the question marks at RT and its importance, but RG could wind up with just as many question marks if Brandon Moore doesn't recover well from surgery. I think Ducasse would have an easier time if he was forced to start at RT than he would at RG having never played OG before. I might be tempted to go with Moffit or an OG/OT tweener.

I couldn't get excited over Friday, but like him better than Jeremy Beal as a pro prospect. I think I'd rather "reach" and take Gabe Miller here, or take Kerley in the 5th and Miller in the 6th. The PFW Chart says that Kerley will go at the top of the 5th, but who knows. He could be gone earlier or be there.

Anyway, as always excellent job and interesting read. Thanks.

Klecko.....no question I'd take Jarrett over Pua. Jarret has the ability to be a starter Day 1.

IMO, put a Eagle uni on Jarrett right now, he's almost a lock.

IMO, Jarrett is the hardest hitting safety in this draft. I watched a bunch of film on JJ and he's awesome in run support. OK in Coverage but still could improve.

I like Williams and Neild in later rounds.

Love the Steven Friday pick, one of my favorite late round sleepers.

The last sentence means everything. After the second round, it's going to be really tough for teams to find pass rushers. I'm a big fan of Steven Friday - thought that was a nice move.

I understand your thinking and the value of that choice, I think it would just a be a little upsetting to another tackle taken in a round that's been so good to this franchise.

Wayne Hunter, Brandon Moore, Matt Slauson, and Robert Turner prove that we don't necessarily have to draft someone high for them to be competitive and successful.

If we're going to take an offensive lineman, I'd rather it be a more versatile lineman - someone that can play guard or tackle. One of Callahan's former Nebraska blockers would make perfect sense.

That really makes me sad. I'd LOVE to see him in a Jets uniform as much or almost as much as any other prospect likely to be available to the Jets at #30. I love the way he hits players. I agree he'd be a starter from day 1.

Since I think the Jets need to double dip on the front 7 with their 1st 2 picks, I guess it's for the best that Jarrett goes elsewhere.
