Hahaha thats funny we picked the same player, I was slow on that pick to. To be honest I wanted SO badly to take Ponder there but Pouncey has way more potential and a rookie QB should be avaiable in the second ( Dalton, Stanzi, Kaepernick) Smith on the Ravens is frightening...
as far the jets are concerned, they should be doing backflips right now with the collectiong of guys on the board that they could chose from. I have one in mind that would be my choice well above the rest... That said, with so many guys on the board that would help us out significantly, I wouldnt be shocked to see us try very hard to trade back for a team moving up for their QB of choice... Perhaps with buffalo, washington or San fransico?
I'll be curious to hear who those guys are. I can only think of a couple of guys (if that) that I'd want at #30. If the draft plays out that way and I'm Tanny, I'm probably looking to trade down.
Whoa Watt AND Heyward? Im surprised at that.. No no no no no. There are three prospects who would be perfect for this team and NE, GB, Denver, and maybe even the Steelers could take them. No way we trade back.
Justin Houston is one of them. He's the one I'd stay put for and take. I wouldn't touch Akeem Ayers, and he's probably another.
That's cool. To each his own. I just don't see why Ayers gets all the love. In the 5-6 videos I've seen of him: 1) most of his production came against weak opponents; 2) Against better teams he tended to disappear; 3) While he read plays well, he was often a step late getting there to make the actual play; 4) lots of players make a lot of plays in college against weaker competition, but when they get to the NFL, they are exposed...for as NFL ready as Ayers may be, and skilled at coverage and reading offenses, I think physically he has peaked. He may be able to get stronger and improve his techniques, but he won't get much, if any, faster. In fact, once he starts hitting and getting hit in the NFL, he will slow down considerably, and I think he's already too slow to really be effective in the NFL. There are questions with Houston's ability to play in space and maybe even his motor, but he has speed and other physical tools that can't be coached, and has at least some experience playing 3-4 OLB.
LOL! No one wants to because everyone is waiting to pick for the Jets!!! I know da Bears need an OL, but don't know what their other needs are, and I believe all the top OL prospects are gone. Wait, I think they could use another target for Cutler, but Baldwin is dropping and Torrey Smith has small hands, so I don't think it'd take either of them. If I could, I'd make their pick, but it would just be drawing a name out of a hat. I don't even know (or care) what D alignment they play. LOL
I would as well but cant because of the rules. Earliest I can pick is #30 ( I believe) I know someone that would fit very well.
Ohshit lemme guess brooks reed?!?!?! Nevermind someone mocked him early.. Thank god. So tired of seeing Reed mocked to the jets on TGG
With the 30th pick the New York Jets select Akeem Ayers, OLB, UCLA Steelers OTC PS. All you Houston fans dont kill me for this one I like Ayers alot more then Houston and will defend my theory if asked
Its really a win win situation with Ayers and Houston on the board. I truely truely believe Houston would be a better 4-3 DE then OLB in a 3-4, he has had limited time standing up and not really great in pass coverage. He is a one trick pass rusher, a good one but I like ayers SO much better. Ayers is sick in coverage, gets to the QB, and stops the run. In a fast paced defense like the Jets he'll do wonders. Especially with our MLBs and solid NT to eat up the middle.
