I am planning to make a trip over the pond to see the Jets either this coming season (if there is one) or the next. I have been to the States before (Orlando - dont blame me I was a teenager and on a road trip with Kanadians down to Cape Cod) so I know to bring my trousers with an elasticated waistband (mmmm all you can eat buffets) and a couple of spare suitcases to load up on cheap clothing and the like but beyond that I would be grateful for any advice as to: - where to buy legitimate tickets (I dont want to spend a fortune geting over there only to find out the tickets I have bought are not valid); - where to sit in the stadium to be more or less guaranteed a good view (and that would be relatively relxed, I am looking more family stand than "the Kop" to use a soccer analogy); - where to stay before/after the game. Ideally I want to see a jets win so I will probably look to see us playing the Bills or Phins Thanks in advance for any assistance.
If you look on the Jets website, there is something called NFL ticket exchange. This is the ticket selling site endorsed by the Jets, and I would imagine it would be the safest way to buy tickets. Personally, I like mezzanine level somewhere between the goal lines. The elevation is just right if you are more interested in following the action vs. being close to the players (not too low, not too high). It is about the same level you would see the game on TV since the TV cameras used to be on that level (at least in the old stadium... don't know about the new one). Also, the mezz is less crowded and lines for bathroom tend to be shorter since the sections are smaller. Where to stay... I wouldn't stay near the stadium... the area sucks. There is public transportation from the city, so you might want to look into that. Just leave plenty of time for the commute so you don't miss anything.
Okay , I get my tickets via Stubhub or Ticket Exchange , wait as near to game as possible most tickets are downloadable I now stay in Hoboken or Newport , easy access on MTA train 3 hrs before/after which allows for drinking etc before! Only $( return. Also Hoboken is a really good area , hotels near stadium are shuffle imo Sit anywhere , I sat in 200's last year and it was excellent but not cheap............family stand........ wtf!!!! :beer: Get to a pats game its worth it for Brady sucks!!!!! Thanks May - when I say family stand I just mean I want to sit somewhere "nice", i.e. get good seats rather than be rammed in somewhere just because its a bit cheaper. As the whole trip will cost me a lot of cash there seems no point scrimping on the main reason for going
If you're looking to go to a home game then forget about the Dolphins we haven't beat them in the Meadowlands since 2007. I would also wait for the official schedule to come out so you don't freeze your butt off.
you guys sound gay. who cares where you sit or how the bathroom lines are or even the weather! the colder the better!!! go to a pats game!!! side note: dont wear sandals or ne other type of shoe that wont cover you entire foot, rex might find you!
I stayed in Manhattan(hotel near Times Square)and took the bus from the NYC Port Authority bus station to the Meadowlands(the old one,it was 2002)...had to queue after the game for about 20 mins but the bus took us back through some pretty epic traffic into Manhattan(I'd assume it's chaos regardless of how you travel,most people just fired up the tailgate for another hour or so)..Easy peasy.Bus was great and easy to find,assuming they still run, i'd recommend it. Got to the stadium about 2hours before kick off and tail-gated.The wife still talks with awe about the whole experience.The pre-game experience Stateside really is nothing like nipping into the pub outside Old Trafford for a couple of snifters before kick-off.It has to be done to be believed.I'm sure nearer the time there will be a friendly local who frequents these boards who'll invite you along to their tailgate.I found eberyone incredibly friendly and genuinely excited about the novelty of jets fan having travelled thousands of miles just for the game.I'd recommend a 1pm game as for where you sit?who cares,you'll be at a Jets game...LIVE....that and the fact you'll likely still be half-cut from all the liquor shots they fed you at the tailgate!! There's a Hampton Inn in Carstadt, NJ that is within walking distance (about 3/4 mile) to the Meadowlands. They have a free shuttle to take you to the game, but it's tough to get the shuttle back after the game. Its easier to walk back. Their rates are reasonable for the room and proximity to the stadium. Its a nice, clean hotel. I've stayed there twice for Jets games, and wouldn't stay anywhere else. I plan on it again this year too for the Pats game. I usually get tickets on Stubhub. I've been happy with them. I wouldn't worry about getting tickets before you leave. Just get on the plane and when you get here buy tickets on stubhub a couple days before the game. That's your best and cheapest option, you'll have the pick of the place (just make sure there's no lock out first, haha)
I've been to the old stadium a few times but hope to get to the new stadium this season. I have never been to a Jets vs Pats game, so that's the plan. However, I want to sit in the noisiest part of the stadium and a few beers with the locals - really get into. So my questions are: i) Is there anybody out there keen to invite 2 or 3 Brits to a tailgate (we'll pay our way and out drink you Yanks!) ii) Which part of the Stadium is the maddest? Lets 'ave it!

Not sure why everyone thinks they should stay in Jersey if they're going to the game. Get a hotel in Manhattan, which is where you'll spend most of your time when you're not at the game anyway. If you stay in a hotel in Jersey, you're going to be bored out of your mind.
I stay near the stadium because I usually just drive up for the game and then go home the next morning. I don't usually go to Manhattan because I'm not there long enough. Also, the hotel at which I stay near the stadium is plenty nice and much cheaper than staying in Manhattan. Its true that there isn't a lot to do in NJ though. Last year we did venture into Manhattan, but we still stayed in NJ. Took the train/subway in for the day. The only downside is not being able to come back to your hotel room for a break here and there. Not a biggie though.
Now that the train runs to the stadium staying in NYC is your best bet. Just take New York Penn Station To Secaucas which is one stop, then hop on from Secaucas to the Meadowlands which is also one stop, short train ride and cheap. Stubhub.com is the best place to get tickets, their never fake. Sit in the lower level If you want the best experience, do not sit in the upper level, its like sitting on the moon. Hey if your coming all the way from the UK, you mind as well get the best seats.
I must admit I'm completely over soccer. I did of course grow up with it and I've been to 85 of the 92 league grounds in the UK but enough is enough. I'm fed up with Man Utd and Chelsea winning every year. I like a good atmosphere but most British Grounds are filled with hate-filled nutters (West Ham vs Millwall - what a disgrace that was). I want to have a beer before the game, make friends, have a photo with Ed, banter with the opposition fans and see us win (by the way I've never seen the Jets lose, i'm 5-for-5, which includes the Monday Night Miracle!)
Get your tickets on Stubhub or from the NY Jets ticket exchange, since I know Stubhub guarantees the tickets to be real. You can also just buy some outside of the stadium from scalpers, there are ALWAYS people selling tickets and you could probably get the best price this way. However, I know if I was traveling a long distance to see the Jets, having tickets in hand before going is one less thing to worry about. I'd personally recommend staying in the Hyatt in Morristown, NJ ( http://www.morristown.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/index.jsp ). You can take a train from there to both the game and NYC. It's a really nice 4-star hotel and you can get a good deal on priceline.com or hotels.com for about $100 a night. Also, there are plenty of good bars and places to eat in Morristown. And the best of all, if you are staying the Monday after the game- The Grasshopper off the Green (an Irish pub) hosts inside the Jets on Monday nights. Usually at least 1 or 2 Jets players are there doing interviews with Bob Wischusen, the ESPN radio guy that does all the Jets games. The pub is about a 30 second walk from the hotel. Make sure to plan to arrive at the stadium at least a few hours before kickoff. If there is no TGG tailgate planned or you don't have a tailgate set up, http://www.tailgatejoe.com/ throws an all inclusive tailgate (all you can eat and drink) for a reasonable price for every home game. He always has great food and beer for I believe $25 a person. As far as where to sit, my tickets are in the lower endzone. They are great for about half the game, but it's hard to see when the game is on the opposite side of the field. I would try to get as close to the 50 yard line as possible. Even the uppers (as long as you're not in the last rows) provide a good view if close to midfield. Also, Miami and New England tickets are always the most expensive to buy. I'd imagine the Giants game this year will be up there in price as well. Buffalo would be a good bet to get a reasonable price on the tickets.
