I'm sorry, I've always felt that our offense played down with Holmes in the line-up. Edwards to me is a much better fit in this offense, and I honestly would rather sign the other three key players in this off season.

If the RFA is kept in place, wouldn't we get compensation for Holmes if he signed elsewhere? I'm not educated enough on the topic of RFA.

He's just telling it like it is..... it doesn't mean he doesn't want to come back to the NYJ.

For a non-Jet fan, could you explain to me why you would rather have Braylon?

Is it the price? Attitude? The drops? I know Braylon has the reputation but Santonio had a lot last year, correct?

Honestly, I'd rather see the Jets draft Titus Young in the third round (he might be gone by then though) than give Holmes a contract averaging $10m/yr in a year that will probably be salary-capped. Young probably won't be near as good as Holmes, but he'll still be a damn serviceable slot receiver.

Price and blocking ability mostly. I guess attitude may be a bit of a factor, but not really. As long as he performs on the field, the attitude aspect fades away quickly. I did get a bit tired of the first down move in games when we were down or he had drops.

Braylon actually turned into the key 3rd down/possession receiver as well as making a lot of big plays.

Fucking douchebag. Go sign a big contract with some shitty ass team and let them watch you do your gay little drop the ball and point routine every fucking time you catch a pass.

Assuming that both Holmes and Braylon want similar contracts, I would prefer to sign Edwards personally. When the first poll came out with this debate around week 10-12, I was one of the few who voted for Braylon. After the season went on, it seemed like more and more people swayed towards Braylon. They both have previous off the field issues and one more mistake could land either one with a long suspension, so we will consider that a wash.

Braylon clearly wants to be a Jet, had a fantastic year, fixed his drop problems, and also made some very huge plays for us this year. His blocking skills are probably the most underrated thing about his play. There have been so many big plays where Brad Smith or LT/Greene were running the ball and gained an extra 10-30 yards based solely on Edwards blocking. Most receivers usually take the play off when they are assigned a block and not a route. This shows that he is a real team player and would sacrifice statistics and do the dirty work that gets unnoticed by many but is key to the success of the offense.

Don't get me wrong, Holmes is a playmaker and I would love to lock him up long term, but with all financial things equal, I'd take Edwards here if we can only keep one. IMO Edwards/Cotch/Slot WR (Stuckey maybe, draft pick, or FA) would be better for our offense than Holmes, Cotch/Finding a big, fast WR like Edwards.

Ugh. I'd like to at least see SOME consistency in our offense.

No reason that the Jets can't be the ones to give him the best offer and convince him to stay. What's he gonna say.. that he only wants to play for the Jets and lose any leverage he might have? I'd say there's a better than 50/50 shot he's back.

When I re-read his quotes, specifically about him being mad at the coaching staff, it really pisses me off. What the FUCK was Shittenheimer doing coming up with a game plan that involved our #1 playmaker and best receiver not starting the biggest game of the season? Like seriously.. WHAT THE HELL is that? I'd be pissed if I were him too.

Honestly, Edwards, Cotchery, and Keller is a good lineup man. Id rather have the money go to the defense man, thats the identity of our team. Holmes had some laughable drops, Edwards has the physical frame of a true #1 receiver.

Also there seems to be some tension between Holmes and Schottenheimer.

I'm sick of this "drop" shit. He had no drop issues this past year. Holmes had some major drops.

Sure I'd love to keep both, but Braylon is still hungry for a ring and wants to be a Jet.

Those things, and his height - Nacho tends to throw high so Braylon just matches that - and he can simply box people out and jump (ala end of the Colts PO game).

The game against the Dolphins and the Packers game ... if Holmes catches those easy passes we prob win 13 games and maybe even win the division ... Braylon knows Mark's tendencies better than anyone IMO on this team, retain Braylon first

Holmes is that really expensive toy that your kid wants, but doesn't really need

That's what he was saying. He was asking if we preferred Edwards because he had fewer drops as a Jet, while conceding that BE had the reputation prior to their days in green.

Yeah, like I said my biggest concern is that we go back to 2010 rules, Santonio refuses to sign his tender so we can really negotiate, and Edwards becomes the top FA on the market. What happens if Tanny and Holmes square off and he starts looking to be traded somewhere that is willing to pay more? We lose both? We give him the $10 million per he thinks he's worth and overpay? We overpay to keep Edwards when he hits the market? Doesn't end well.

Or he was sarcastically asking whether we want him because he drops the football.

He should say nothing at this point because it's all irrelevant for practical purposes. Show me the quotes from other pending 4th/5th year RFAs saying they won't sign their tenders.

They ALL want the right to sign a new contract, and they ALL deserve that right, but I don't see anyone else complaining right now while there's still a fucking labor dispute going on.
