I wonder what the reaction would be if we drafted one of the following guys (trying to think outside the box of course):

    1) Adrian Clayborn - 34DE - Iowa (HT: 6-2⅝ - WT: 281)

Pros: Supposedly excellent value at #30. Can pressure the QB.
Cons: Doesn't fit in a 3-4? Character? Can only play on one side (Erbs Palsy)?

    2) Aaron Williams - FS/CB - Texas (HT: 5-11⅞ - WT: 204)

Pros: Better S in the draft. Versatile DB (can also play some CB).
Cons: Rd 1 talent? Is it worth drafting a FS before OLB and DE?

    3) Jabaal Sheard - OLB - Pittsburgh (HT: 6-2⅞ - WT: 264)

Pros: Fits a need. Good talent level.
    Cons: Rd 1 talent?

    4) Torrey Smith - WR - Maryland (HT: 6-0⅞ - WT: 204)

Pros: Legit all-round WR. Good Character. Can develop with Sanchez. Allows us to only sign one between Holmes and Edwards.
Cons: Worth drafting WR before bigger needs?

    5) Marvin Austin - 34DE - North Carolina (HT: 6-1⅝ - WT: 309)

Pros: Great talent and climbing up draft boards.
    Cons: 43DT only? Character.

    6) Mikel Leshoure - RB - Illinois (HT: 5-11⅝ - WT: 227)

Pros: Talented, young (1990) and no injury history. Maybe best RB in the draft.
Cons: Do we need another RB? Is he rd 1 material?

I KNOW MANY WOULD BE GOOD PICKS IF WE TRADED DOWN BUT I'M TALKING ABOUT GETTING ONE OF THESE GUYS AT #30.

Admittedly I'm no draft expert, but I don't think I'd be happy with any of those guys at #30. Maybe later on, but not at #30.

Personally I wouldn't like Williams and Leshoure.

Williams because I don't think we need a FS that bad and I'd like to address it further in the draft (if at all).
Leshoure because I'm ok with the RBs we have and I think we can go a long way with a Greene+McKnight+anyone rotation.

I'd be ok with Clayborn and Austin. I think both might be able to become good 34DEs... Clayborn more in Ellis' role and Austin more in DeVito's. I would however select Heyward or Wilkerson over them.

    T. Smith+Holmes+Cotchery could become a very solid trio for years to come... and I think they would help Sanchez out a lot.

Sheard is just a good player. I don't care if there are players with more talent than him... because of the position he plays although he might not have rd 1 talent he has rd 1 value.

Austin is average at best, he was way overrated headed into the year, and he's even more overrated now, and that's not even getting into the off the field stuff. There are guys that people like to say are can't miss prospects, I think he's a can't hit guy. I don't for a second see him becoming anything above mediocre, and I don't think he'll even care.

Clayborn and Smith would be the only ones I'd be scratching my head about...

Id be pissed with all of those guys, especially if we see Williams as a free safety when we could get Rahim Moore who IMO is more talented than Williams

Another one Id like to see if people would be pissed by is: Derrek Sherrod in the first for the RT spot

(not saying Id want him at 30 but just seeing peoples opinions)

Let's have Callahan work with Vlad before we blow a first rounder on an OL

Eh Sherrod could start at RT and Vlad could be groomed to replace Moore at RG in such a situation.

    Clayborn isn't a terrible pick at 30.

    The rest are

I wouldn't call Torrey Smith an all around WR. He's a deep threat. He route running is not near Jones/Green to be considered all around good

Offensive line is probably the least of the Jets worries. Let's not put by far the Jets strongest draft selection into it. Jets don't pick again til #94 and I doubt you can fix the pass rush back that far.

Like i said I'm not saying i want this pick just seeing what would others think of it. Obviously OLB, DE, NT, and Safety should all come before OLine.

Since you asked I told you it was stupid. I would be livid if the jets went OL in round 1. I'd honestly rather draft a Kicker in the first round.

    Can he return kicks?

Then he can replace Brad Smith as the new gadget player.

    I'm for it.

Yes. The Erb's palsy concerns me. I don't think he was able to lift that many times, and has strength issues. Unless he fell to the bottom of the 3rd round, I wouldn't touch him.

A lot of guys here seem to really like him. I haven't watched any film on him. I would be shocked beyond words if he was the pick at #30, but if Rex and the scouting dept. see him as a the 2nd coming of Ed Reed, ok; otherwise, yes, I'd be pissed.

I like Sheard. I wouldn't be pissed that they took him, only miffed that they reached for him. If he's the OLB they like, then they should trade down into the 2nd round.

Yes. He has small hands, and unless Holmes or Edwards isn't coming back, WR isn't a need.

Yes, not a fan, am not sure he'd be a good fit, and he would be a big reach.
I would be beyond pissed. I don't care how good he is. I'd take a RT prospect over a RB at #30.

I could be convinced into Smith, Austin, and possibly LeShoure...not so much with the other guys...I like Clayborne, but I see him as a 4-3 DE...also I don't like the whole shoulder injury thing.
