During his chat today mentioned the Jets really like Ryan Kerrigan. They would likely need to get to around 15. To do that it will cost #30 and likely next year's #1. Thoughts?

here's a question for all you draft guru's. Are the 1st round 3-4 end prospects (Kerrigan, Heyward, ect...)that much of an upgrade over an undrafted guy like devito? If not, why draft any 3-4 ends early in the draft when we need help in soo many other areas on d. I know the playing end in a 3-4 doesn't give you great stats. According to ESPN devito had 59 tackles and 2 forced fumbles last season. Would the 1st-2nd round 3-4 end prospects put up better numbers, and/or just be overall better players (by getting our olb sacks because they're occuping a double team) than an undrafted guy like devito? PS... yes i know we would be drafting a 3-4 end to replace ellis and not devito, but i used devito as the example because he's the less talented of the two. So i figured 1st and 2nd round prospects should have much better stats than him. But feel free to flame away you assholes!:smile:
Trade up for a player that is best as 4-3 end and not a 3-4 OLB. If I'm trading up to 15, it's for JJ Watt or Cam Jordan.
1) That is just so not true. We have a solid D in terms of personnel... some positions can be upgraded but don't make it sound like we're in shit mode. 2) Who cares if he's undrafted... sometimes you get lucky with undrafted players. Sometimes you get unlucky with 1st rd picks... but the rd you're picked in isn't a measure of your actual talent... just how good/bad NFL personnel is at evaluating talent.
I think it bares watching. Kerrigan is a riser in the draft and Mike T. believes in quality over quantity. Don't forget Tannebaum was willing to trade a future #1 for Percy Harvin. I think Kerrigan is a perfect fit but I to would have to swallow hard for next yrs #1. If you use the draft table the Jet's would have to give up their entire draft to go from 30 to 20. So a #1 next year is not out of line especially when we expect that it will be a very late #1.
Kerrigan is NOT a perfect fit for the Jet's defense. Kerrigan's best position is at 4-3 DE. I love Kerrigan , but not for the Jet's defense.
i thought i read somewhere tanny stating he likes to view each draft as individual and as such doesn't like trading future picks for the present draft.so i'd say no chance in hell of this happening. that said,if he wants to move up for an olb/pass rusher i'd be good with it.if we keep the team prettymuch intact we are only a pass rusher away from being a serious frontrunner this year
We moved from 17 to 5 with a 2nd round pick and a few role players.....no way I'd trade a future 1st to move up a similar amount to a worse pick for a worse player.
