I drafted him there because he's fast as hell. An Oakland draft isn't complete without a speed demon. However, I wouldn't be surprised if Van Dyke was selected in the third round.
I didn't even look at your Eagels one when I said that, I just remembered your Broncos one because of the bigger names. Any draft with AJ Green in it is a good draft for me.
Depends on whos throwing to him hahaa. Im banking on Palmer staying to be honest, Bengals never trade ANYONE. This draft can show him they want to improve the Offense for him. BUT if they decide to trade him ( For a 1st next year or maybe a high second) then Id draft Ponder, Kaepernick, or Mallet but since he isnt traded I not setting my draft around a possibility.
No, I like your picks a lot. I'm not doing to good with my first draft though. ha It's fun though! I don't see the Ravens picking tonight, I gotta get some sleep. See ya'll in the AM!
And my bottom mocks are.... Panthers Panthers Panthers Panthers Panthers Hahaha, only messing with ya. Your Panthers draft is a very good start for a franchise looking to improve and not just settle. I like the Dareus and Casey picks, Run D has the possibility to go to the bottom of the league to top 15. Locker and Clausen should make an interesting competition although with them two Id hope the Panthers would sign a Vet to give the QBs some time to develop. Wright should be a solid #3 corner and could challenge for #2 next season. Cameron is a favorite of mine, he should be developed like a few others on the team but can become a great TE is taught well and get a QB that can throw to him consistently. In 2-3 years the Panthers should bounce back nicely with your draft.
Bengals could fight for Andrew Luck, since if the Buffalo draft happens(They have a good shot at No.1 pick), they will take best OT available next year. Can't see any other team needing Luck with Newton as a Bill, Mallett as a Jag, Gabbert as a Titan, Ponder with WSH, Kaepernick in MIN, Locker fighting with Clausen with CAR and Dalton as a 49er. Maybe Arizona but they could very well grab Kolb. Oakland(I dont know if Stanzi can be the answer) and Cincy could be fighting for Luck...maybe Seattle.
Luck is such an outstanding QB that Id take him over any QB that I drafted the previous year besides Cam and Gabbert (not because of skill but because they cant give up on an investment that quickly)
In my mind Kolb is gone, and Kafka would move up a slot. The rules would inhibit them to make any deal before this draft, but the way that Kolb would most likely have to be dealt anyway would be through a deal involving conditional future picks. If the CBA gets done in any reasonable amount of time, Kolb will be sent away, and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if a deal is struck somewhere before we even get to the draft (though unofficial until the CBA is in place). That's just too valuable a chip to leave hanging another season. As for Kafka, I see him as a great backup QB option, but not much more than that. I loved him at NW, and thought he was the kind of smart, accurate game manager that excelled in a backup role. He's not really a "developmental" QB, he is what he is. On the other hand, and as I said earlier, I think Devlin can be a starter in this league, though I think that will take a lot more work. While Kafka handles the stand in duties, Devlin can be developed into a future key player/trade chip. Plus, in the middle of the fifth round, finding a kid that I think has the skills to be a starting QB is a pretty nice value.
Oh I don't disagree just these teams will have a 2nd(Well Locker is the 1st pick of round 3 so I can group him in) round pick invested in these guys, so they will be hesitant somewhat. I also don't know if anyone besides Buffalo and Tenn. can touch Cincy in the standings next year since the AFC East and AFC North has 4 great teams, Miami who no can read and Browns usually can muster up 7 maybe 8 wins. Maybe Redskins can challenge the crown with the NFC East, AFC East, but they get Minnesota, Carolina and the easy NFC West so that should at least get them 5 wins. If Seattle can won't more than 4 or 5 games next year when playing in that joke of a division, I dont know what to say. Same with the 49ers and Cards. Bengals inadvertently set themselves up nicely to be a huge contender for Luck barring Palmer turning the clock to 2005 and just erupting(Doubt it). You just have Al Davis and his unpredictability standing in the way.
I completely agree with all of this, the only thing I could say is lets say the draft next season is set up like this: (IMO very likely) Top 3 Bills Panthers Bengals The Bills and Panthers could start a Kings ransom for their pick and have some team ( Seahawks, Raiders, or Cards) throwing out multiple first to get that slot for Luck. Thats the only thing preventing them from acquiring him.
Gracias, the only thing that kinda irks that I picked 3 guys from the same school consecutively. At first I was ok with it, but now I don't know. Talent is talent though, I'm not gonna skip over someone for a less talented player just because I want a variety of colleges. And FWIW, I like your ATL draft. Having them in the 3 Rounder, I'm in tune with their draft needs. Houston was who I wanted then(I stole Tyron Smith, so I can't complain), I actually think he's a better DE. Carpenter helps with the 3 FAs, Cobb can take the #2/3 job and offer return ability, and Matthews shore up that LB corp...
Eh like I said at least the chemstry would be there, also I'm sure one or two of these UNC giys end up on the same team, i know you want variety but those three are very good picks. And Thanks man I appreciate it , i still have a lot more planned for ATL so Id check back for your full analysis. Houston I agree is a better 4-3 DE then OLB but the only thing i will say is I think ATL would want Kerrigan over him but maybe thats because they don't exactly expect him to be there. As I was extremely glad to get Carp and Cobb . Cobb is perfect for the falcons, great hands, explosive and can return, all things the Falcons need. and Carp is awesome, would love to see him at LG for ATL. Matthews is going to be great in a rotation for the Falcons and is a future starter.
You do have a point, I bet Sanchize had an easier time handing off to Joe McKnight and throwing passes to Patrick Turner when they both arrived. I know it's a bit different with 2 defensive and 1 offensive player, but they know simple nuances about each other from being on the same team that could help going forward. I'd go Kerrigan over Houston as well if he was there, but I don't think Kerrigan will fall like some are expecting, I think he's gone in the top 20. Carp's natural position is Guard, but I wouldn't be shocked if they played him at RT. He's a strong runblocker that could take the place of Clabo, which I think will get a bigger contract offer than he's worth. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest...
Same Id go Kerrigan over Houston but also doubt he's there. I think Clabo will be back at RT for the Falcons, he's just way to valuable and had such a good year, but Carp can fill in any whole besides center for the Falcons but Im an advocate of him being a LG, he is a great pass blocker but has some solid run blocking moves to, hed be a perfect fit there and gives Ryan more time to throw. Also, my next couple picks for the Falcons will be very solid, some surprises and some solid prospects for such low rounds. Watch and see. Also for the Bengals I should get some solid players to, although I like my ATL draft better at the moment.
Happy with the Lutrus pick. He obviously will not start immediately, and may never start...but at the very least he'll contribute on special teams and is very good in zone coverage. Greg Jones,Ahmed Black and Scott Lutrus are all ball hawks who fit the Colts scheme perfectly.
I had the same thinking with Mike Mohamed. A smart kid that can come in and backup all the positions, and play out a solid career in that 4th LB role. If he really takes to the system and can earn some starts (especially with Bradley's injury history), then great, it's all house money, but year one he's acting as the stop gap until Chris Carter gets comfortable playing full time standing up.
GH, Mike Mo is a good pick, he was on my radar for both of my teams as a strong back-up and special team player. I think he could fit well in Dallas' & NE's 3-4.
Thanks WW. Also, great pick in Delone Carter for DET by BakerMaker. As we've said a thousand times, the RB depth is stupid in this draft. If I didn't love Daniel Thomas' value in the fourth, I was set to wait until this late 5 spot to get one of many more quality players.
agreed, I really like the Carter pick. I think he can be a damn good compliment to Jahvid Best in Det. Excellent selection
