Terrible combine, undersized. He passes the eyetest, he can play the game. Great feet and change of direction makes up for his lack of speed.
I had the chance to see him live a couple times, and he never failed to impress me. His best game at NC was against the Canes too, so he definitely passed my eye test with flying colors. If he were a little taller I wouldn't care about the timed speed.
Great pick with Bair , he'll be an excellent 5 tech DE, once he adds some more weigh he'll be really really solid. Nice stuff ND.
Only issue, he's old, like 26. I believe I was watching an Oregon game and the announcers mentioned he was the oldest player in College Football.
He also has his own business and is married, he's an adult for sure but I think he can play at a high level for a good 4-5 years before we see some drop in play. It depends on what team drafts him aswell but late 5th or 6th is a good gamble for a guy who could start.
Danny Watkins is the same age, but at least with him you know you have a guy that can actually play at a high level right away. Bair can be a quality rotation guy early on, but his skills don't really scream stud like Watkins' do. I personally would have Watkins slated to start at either RG or RT day one with my Eagles, depending on the health/shape of Winston Justice.
From 8 to 11 tonight I'll be around, but tied up in otehr activities, I'll be checking in every 30 mins or so to make my picks, but don't expect them real quick because it says I'm online, I may be AFK.
I wanted to go defensive end opposite Chris Long in the first round, but with Smith and Quinn gone, there wasn't the value. With Romeus, if he can get over his personal stuff and the injuries, he's that kind of talent. I'll take that in the 5th.
Could be a great steal if he can get over his problems. From a potential early rounder a few years ago to a 5th , the "Fall of Romeus" hasn't been pretty...
Surprised Jarrett fell down to the middle of the 5th, wanted to go on a different direction but the value was just too good. Dolphins do need safety help for sure and I think Jarrett can potentially be a starter early.
There we go, the two guys that have been dropping like crazy get picked up. Jarret has 4 or 5th round value IMO and so does Romeus. Great pickups. I like Jarret better though (not the pick just the player), could be a solid Safety in a few years.
With the caveat you mentioned, this is a great place to take Romeus. His back injury is a little scary but he still has the potential to be a threat in the pass rush if he can get his head on his shoulders. I think this is about where he should go in the draft - maybe a round late - unless some falls in love with his physical potential. He had a great junior year at Pitt that had people talking first round potential so the football skills are there. At worst, he's a decent project for a 4-3 team.
I like the Stanzi pick for Oakland. Decent #3 prospect who could develop into a solid back-role if the constantly changing coaching staffs can have some patience with him.
