I like the leadership on that team, Rudd and Hayes will really be able to take him under there wings and teach him the ways, like you said his speed also concerns me, but I guess as long as he has that determination whats really stopping him from trying to get better.

He doesn't need that much weight IMO, Thomas Davis(former safety), Jon Beason, and Barrett Ruud(who he might replace) all play within 3-5 pounds of McCarthy.

One of the rumors around the Bucs is the Rudd may not be back this season. Another reason I was looking at LB for them.

Determined is a good adjective for McCarthy. He's a guy who loves football. I expect him to do well in some role this season, be it a Starting MBL spot or special teams.

That was a typo my bad , actually ment 10-15. More so thinking 245-250 would give him the bulk he needs to become a above average tackler in the NFL. He doesnt really need it but just suggesting it.

He could also re-injure his shoulder opening a jar of peanut butter, but you asked about weight issues. Injuries as a whole are a much bigger concern than putting on some pounds. He's also not nearly as intelligent as Vilma was coming out, and mix that with a lack of explosiveness and you get solid at best.

Im just saying when training in the NFL and trying to bulk up a bit, like I stated I think he needed, he could very well re-injure his shoulder. I believe he had like 1 or 2 surgeries on it and trying to stop some bigger guys in the NFL or weight training something could happen.

Obviously ANYTHING could be possible to reinjure his arm, I just had concern when more strenuous deeds were to occur in the NFL.

Again, not saying I dont like the pick just asking if Harpua had any concern.

Yep, not as instinctive as Vilma comming out, but then again were talking mid third, not a mid first rounder, here.

I think the kid is a football player. He'll never be in the top of the linebackers in the league, but has enough physical ability to go along with a hard nosed approach to the game to make it.

That would really suck if Rudd would be gone on the Bucs, him and Ronde really provide the most leadership on that team.

I was thinking of McCarthy for BUF in rd 3 but I went with Sheppard just because of the injuries.

And from what I heard out of Buc fans, Rudd stunk last season.

WEll, if the kid was going to fuck up his shoulder lifting, you think 23 reps at the combine would have done it.

Your concerned about an injury that happened two years ago, he's made over 200 tackles, not counting pratice or the senior bowl, since then. I'm sure teams will look into it, and he'll pass the physical.

No I know, I understand that, Im just saying sometimes injuries come back especially with the amount of work he'll have to go through and hard tackles he'll have to make in the NFL. Not arguing he wont be a solid player I just had a bit of concern for his shoulder. But will obviously see what team drafts him in the NFL and how he will translate. I want him to have a good career, his a good kid and really has alot of leadership potential.

Dontay Moch, Derrick Johnson, Jovan Belcher, and Tamba Hali make one hell of a young LBing core for KC.

Might be a bit early for guy to go but he's one hell of a player and should translate perfectly to the Colts D. They need help stopping the run for sure.

Appreciate everyone's help, looks like things are moving along well.

Looking forward to the Jet's pick later today.

I will be on-line for most of the day if anyone needs to forward their board.

Vereen to the Saints is a bit puzzling.

I understand the value in the pick, but it just doesn't make sense for a team that has talent at the position already.
