Since you brought up the Super Bowl....I would've figured you would go the CB route, considering some of the injuries the Pack suffered in the secondary. Tramon Williams is really the only sure bet for a CB....are the Packers prepared for a possible Woodson retirement announcement? I like the Sheard pick....who knows if Cullen Jenkins will be back...so Sheard is a great replacement. Just thought it was too early for a WR selection.
I think you'll see an announcement that Woodson will be moving to FS before you see a retirement conference. CB is on my board, I like a couple in the next few rounds. Plus they are very high on Shields, which I think he can take the #2 spot with Williams @ #1 if need be. A good pass rush can mask an average CB, and the Packers certainly have that.
Had to take McDaniel there. The Bengals need a safety more then a lb. He should provide solid coverage skills and hard hitting in the backfield.
Jabaal Sheard is 260lbs and already pushing the mass limits of his frame. I hope to God no one is trying to take him as a 3-4 dline.
Ncie pick with Williams GH.... The value was exelcent I was tempted with the bears, but Forte is there and they have no one on Line that should stay another year lol.
I assumed he drafted Sheard as a DE.....the Packers LB corps is one of the best in the league and quite deep in the depth dept.
Damn, I missed that entirely, and I even quoted it. Sheard will bring consistency to the OLB position opposite Matthews. He has has the best person possible teaching him the Hybrid position in Kevin Greene, hopefully he can mold another monster. With the Jolly arrest, I think Packers will make a big effort to resign Jenkins, even though I think they got a probable starter in the late round steal, CJ Wilson. They are searching for a consistent rusher opposite Clay Matthews. Frank Zombo, an UDFA, was the most effective player there and he only had 4-5 sacks. There are plenty 3-4 DE available...
They could use some help opposite Matthews... and Matthews + Shears would be real bad for any opponent.
They also have Mike Neal who I liked a lot in last year's draft. He can be a very solid player for them.
A few of us have the Cardinals and Browns board in a PM, so after the Bills pick 2 more will be knocked off within a few minutes.
Definitely, between Pickett, Neal, and Wilson, I don't think DE is a primary need, but it is on my board. Plus you have an unknown in Justin Harrell, who gets put on IR if he sneezes. Although I can't see him sticking around much longer with that contract...
Supposedly the Bills management have loved Sheppard since they coached him at the senior bowl so I can see them drafting him in round 3. Poz is too injury prone and Mitchell is gone so ILB is a big need, esp with the 3-4 move.
I don't know, for a ILB playing in a 3-4 he shouldnt be struggling with getting off of blocks, which he has a problem with
When it's all said and done getting Ryan Williams in the 3rd will turn out to be a steal... congrats to the GM!
So far I am a big fan of Cleveland's draft so far. Front 7 should be much improved, now they should focus on 2 positions they were lacking last year.
What's frustrating as a Jet fan, is still only having one pick in late rd 1 and seeing all these players going off the board in Round 3.
Very frustrating. I wasn't really on the "trading down" wagon but after doing this i'm definitely on unless someone takes a momentous fall in round 1. This Dolphin GM is also pretty frustrated!
