The Bengals drafted Andre Smith who missed the entire combine, not to mention the million of other character red flags they draft. Its just the opposite that LB would be a match made in heaven
Pick forthcoming, sorry was at work. EDIT: Nevermind, I guess someone else made my pick. Sorry, forgot the draft started today. My bad, hate holding the draft up. Any particular reason we seem to have all our drafts on Saturday nights?
Not comparing their personalities, Im comparing their massive size. Compared Cannon is stronger, quicker, more athletic, and smarter kid then Smith. That LB is good, not doubting that but his bad pro day will drop him a bit and many NFL coaches and scouts saying he didnt want to be there, also bashing his instincts make teams stray away. His tape is solid though, I wouldnt mind having this prospect on the Jets if we had a second. BUT there will be a couple targets I have in mind at that LB position that could fill in very nicely.
I'm not down on Cannon, I actually drafted him in the 2nd with KC in the 4 man Mock. I just don't see him as any different than Andre Smith. They have already chosen to move Smith to RG full time, so that only really leaves RT open. And I think he'll have the same problem Smith did, his strong suit isn't his footwork or his quickness, it's his girth.
I actually had thought they wanted him at either RT or try to move him to LG, if healthy. Cannon is a better fit a RG but he can play RT for sure IMO, especially if he drop 15 pounds, although Id rather him not. I think Cannon at RG over Smith is the way to go. And also dont you think addressing the OLine that is just absolutely terrible is better then improving a LB position that isnt "terrible". Andre Smith is just a failed prospect and will be gone after his contract is up or is cut ; leaving that line that empty would be a bad decision and bringing a third or fourth rounder really wouldnt immediately help like Cannon could.
He's been back and forth between RG and RT the past 2 years, but now they are going to switch him to RG fulltime. It covers a lot of his weaknesses(speed rushers and passblocking) while playing to his strengths(runblocking and size). Even if it's a success, they likely will let him go after the season due to the contract. I agree with improving the line and I don't think a LB was needed ATM, but I do think there was a better RG/RT out there, abet a few years older...
There's actually another possible guard but more of a center I wanted for the Bengals but wasnt 100 percent solid, could of or maybe should of took him but I like Cannon in the end as a massive run blocking RG. I think I know who your talking about but could be wrong.
I will be available most of the day (Sunday), please send me your board if you won't be around, or a chance you could miss your pick.
Cleveland added some SERIOUS D-line talent so far in Bowers and Paea. Arizona got probably the top player in the draft and top cb in Peterson and one of the top LB's in Wilson. Great picks brickwall.
Taylor and Moore were going to be my picks for the skins... give me a while to decide who should go there now.
Thanks... My #1 plan for the Browns was to improve there front 7. And got lucky two of the best d-line players in the draft were available when I was picking. Their transition to the 43 should be made a little easier. As for the Cards I love Wilson's versatility, his ability to play inside and outside was the reason I picked him over a certain linebacker who is more of a pure pass rusher. I know he supposedly had a bad pro day, but his talent was just too much to pass up.
I don't know about the Ponder pick.....I do think he is a early-mid round 2 QB based on what he has done lately but I just was never impressed with him in college. I thought the Skins coulda gone another position too that they desperately need. I don't know maybe its just because every time I watched the Seminoles, Ponder was disappointing me. But in terms of draft value/need Ponder does make sense. I mean then again NDMick might have something with the pick because Shanahan has specific requirements for his QBs and Ponder might fit the mold.....as he has busted his butt off at the combines and really has exploded to the scene since the Senior Bowl.
It was Ponder or Reed, and they already have Orakpo. I wanted Taylor since Haynesworth is gone, but he was taken. I was going to take Moore because they need safety help too. He went right before the Skins pick. The Skins need a new QB, I gave them Jones on the outside with Armstrong - they'll be set as long as they have someone throwing to them. Ponder's stock is high enough to be the 41st pick. They needed a QB. I really wanted Taylor.
PPP10 sent me his Titans board, but NO Texan's board. PPP10 said he wouldn't be on till after 12 Noon. I expect this time to expire. If you can't wait around send me your board......don't keep others waiting..
Yeah, saw after I posed that NDMick made a pick at 9:53. Watch PP10 come in and take a guy on my board. Would serve me right.
No problem, had a feeling it was going to work out that way with some of the picks that went before. I still like Ayers, almost wishing I went with Paea but Ayers should be a solid contributor.
