I'd be down for Moore, I think he is a bit of a stretch in the late first but he should develop into a good player

I would love it if we got him. Him and Jimbo in the secondary would be pretty damn good.
Other than that, address the front seven or trade out of the first round altogether.

Scott Wright has us taking Stephen Paea. Is another injured DT what we need? Impressed in the combine...hmm where have we heard that before, buyer beware I think

Paea was a consensus top 15 pick pre senior bowl when a freak accident caused his injury. At the combine he proved to be strong as an ox, setting a combine record for most reps at 225 pounds. But that doesn't mean he isn't a top prospect. Whether he is right for this system is debatable, but Paea is definately a top prospect.

I'm not a fan of Moore's. While he appears to be a better ballhawk than Kerry Rhodes, he seems to have many of the same tackling "issues."

Just as importantly, safety isn't even the Jets' second biggest need, and at least traditionally, safeties don't have to be chosen that high. I strongly believe that both the first and third round picks should be spent on the front 7, with hopefully an OLB in the first and a DL in the 3rd.

There is a safety that could be available in the 4th round that I think could be a better fit and better overall player in the long run, even if not a better ballhawk than Moore. That player is Jaiquawn Jarrett. He has the tools for the job and is already a better tackler than Moore.

Talent-wise I'm pretty sure a 34DE or 34OLB with more upside will be there at #30.
Position-wise I think our front 7 is a higher priority.

All in all I don't like the pick... It might make sense if we trade down but I'd still be surprised...

I love the idea of Jaiquawn Jarrett, especially in the 4th. This kid is a sick tackler, something moore is not. He also is good at defending the pass and im sure with the help of rex, he could be a stud. I like the idea of OLB in the first, Brooks Reed, DL in the 3rd and then Jaiquawn Jarrett in the 4th. This would bring youth to the defense and great talent and athleticism.

It's just not a smart decision to take a safety that early unless he's an absolute stud.

Agreed. Moore seems pretty good, but he doesn't blow me away. Anyone's excitement for getting a Polamalu/Reed type safety should be tempered by the high bust rate at the position for first rounders. Those talents are rare.

Can't argue with that. But very possibly an upgrade on what we have now, and whats likely to come on the FA market

Haha, you've been saying it for years X, it was only a matter of time before some of us started listening.

I like Ahmad Black over Rahim Moore. The more I think about it Ahmad Black and Jim Leonhard are pretty much the same type of players in college making plays in the secondary. Jim Leonhard didn't get any love coming out of Wisconsin since he was 5'8 and after getting signed by the Ravens and getting some playing time, we know the type of player he is on the field. Ahmad Black isn't a track guy but on the football field his instincts in games speak for themselves. The JETS need to address the 3-4 OLB position in the first round and if Ahmad Black is there in the third round they need to get him immediately.
