Kerrigan a distant third? Wow... disagree with that... it's amazing how much a message board can alter your opinion on players.
I think most aren't on the Kerrigan bandwagon because the lack of hype and knowledge, we were basically told not to bother because he wouldn't be around at 30. I would take Kerrigan in a heartbeat, but at the same time, I've tapered my expectations of him falling. So many haven't spent a lot of time thinking about him being a Jet...
Agreed, I don't have a problem with anyone's opinion but I find it funny that somehow all the players that are debated on TGG (many of which would be good picks at #30) are thought of as gods by many users. On the other hand the guys we don't talk about much because they prob won't be there when we pick don't get much glory. This is the proof that marketing works
I would actually prefer kerrigan over wilson ^ thats sorta my bad...but i am a big fan of brooks reed, plus idk if kerrigan would bring the athleticism that our LB core needs to be great (considering coverage too) although his attitude and relentlessness is great.
I have a feeling that either player would be a good fit with the Jets. They are both furious players on the field, and they play with a high motor. Very productive football players that will not be denied. I like players like that, I would rather have Kerrigan over Reed. I don't want anything to do with, Wilson. That's my standing on these players, we'll see how it goes though.
Just saw Kiper put Reed at 32 for the Packers. I guess he reads our board. Just fucking take him at 30. His stock justifies it.
If Capers got to sculpt his defenses around Matthews and Reed, that would just be utterly terrifying. If you let Kevin Greene get his hands on Reed--I agree with Magilla (I think?) who said that Greene is underrated with what he's done with GB's OLBs--the kid will really develop. That, and Matthew Stafford would be dead by week 6 if he had to face those two with his offensive line (even though it is marginally improving).
Twas me, Greene will probably be the future of position coaches, not exactly the coach type, but knows the position inside an out from experience. He may never be more than that, but he sure has found his niche. Hell, he even turned Frank Zombo, an UDFA, into a respectable player...
there are plenty of guys like that now who just coach their craft and that's all. Greene may not be an Xs and Os guy. Maybe he will, or maybe he doesn't want to be a coordinator. I think he could be the packers OLB coach forever if he wanted to. He was an awesome player too.
Yeah, that was a mistake on my part, there are certainly more than just Greene like that. I was caught up in the moment. It's a great for position coaching, but it might also affect the "farm system" for coaches in the future if they don't adapt. It's good in moderation, but you can't have all the position coach positions filled with people that "just know" that said position...
Kerrigan's ceiling isn't as high as Reed's or Wilson's. ...mainly because he lacks elite athleticism. I think he'll be a good player in this league though and wouldn't be upset if the Jets somehow ended up wit him.
Wilson had a terrible pro day, displaying poor footwork to go with his lack of football instinct. He also reportedly displayed a poor attitude, and really hurt his draft stock.
Kerrigan's been a very productive player in college and has a great motor and work ethic. I wouldn't hate it if the Jets wound up with him, but as some others have said, I think he lacks the athleticism and perhaps the speed the Jets need at OLB. I know that Purdue DEs have done very well in the NFL, and think Kerrigan will do well, I just think that Reed definitely has a higher ceiling, and think that Wilson could as well. He definitely seems to have more speed and athleticism.
