Now, the rankings aren't about where I think they'll be drafted. This is how I think the better prospects in this draft will fare in their careers. This is why some are rated so high, this is why some blue chippers have fallen further than you would have imagined if you did acid for 8 straight days. Tear it apart: 1. Patrick Peterson 2. A.J. Green 3. Marcel Dareus 4. Robert Quinn 5. Von Miller 6. Julio Jones 7. Nick Fairley 8. Da'Quan Bowers 9. Cameron Jordan 10. JJ Watt 11. Prince Amukamara 12. Corey Liuget 13. Ryan Kerrigan 14. Stephen Paea 15. Justin Houston 16. Adrian Clayborn 17. Nate Solder 18. Mark Ingram 19. Tyron Smith 20. Jimmy Smith 21. Anthony Costonzo 22. Kyle Rudolph 23. Muhammad Wilkerson 24. Aldon Smith 25. Gabe Carimi 26. Martez Wilson 27. Brooks Reed 28. Phil Taylor 29. Allen Bailey 30. Brandon Harris 31. Cameron Heyward 32. Sam Acho 33. Derek Sherrod 34. Mikel LeShoure 35. Akeem Ayers 36. Blaine Gabbert 37. Christian Ballard 38. Marvin Austin 39. Aaron Williams 40. Rahim Moore 41. Titus Young 42. Johnathan Baldwin 43. Jabaal Sheard 44. Mike Pouncey 45. Curtis Brown 46. Sione Fua 47. Ryan Williams 48. D.J. Williams 49. Cam Newton 50. Kelvin Sheppard
I like it. I'm not a big fan of the QB's either. I personally feel differently about a few prospects, but, how can you really call anyone wrong? Nobody knows. I agree with your list for the most part though. I think Green will be the best player in this draft. He is going to be fun to watch in the pro's.
Overall good list. It takes balls to make changes and not follow the herd. I wouldn't rate Newton that low, but people either love him or hate him. No argument from me, Peterson and Green are my top 2 players. Mason Foster needs to be in your Top 50. Marvin Austin, Allen Bailey & Ryan Williams are questionable top 50 picks.
Interesting...I tend to believe the road for a more "successful" career is easier for offensive lineman. You have a bunch of skill guys in the top 10. I can't disagree with Peterson though, he's my top player too.
Cam Newton should be -1 Mason Foster can take his place at 49 Good list. It's always good to see different takes.
Other than Newton and Tyron Smith being a little low for my taste, can't hate on anything. Solid list, better than anything I could do...
I know I'm in the minority but Von Miller is getting sooooooooo much love! I find it amazing so many people have him in their top 5... and before anyone points out I only watch highlights etc etc... Former NFL scout Dave Razzano believes Texas A&M OLB Von Miller has "got some Vernon Gholston in him." "In looking at Big-12 tape, he does not have a motor," said Razzano. "He doesn't chase hard. They run at him, and he doesn't fight off blockers. When he gets sacks, a lot of times he's not getting blocked. He's a one-move guy."
Its pretty funny because I have been thinking Gholston this whole time. I havent watched alot of him but the entire Von Miller thing is turning into a Hype Machine. I didn't like that he didn't do any lb drills in the senior bowl as well as I didn't think he looked great in some of the lb drills at the combine. I know size and strength wise they don't compare but this just smells of Gholston. He seems quite small to me and looks more like a track player than anything else.
Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm pleased to know that it's not too out of the norm which would push it into Pete Prisco territory. My stance on this QB class is harsh because I look at these guys and I don't see my Sanchez, my Ryan or even Stafford. I see guys who are going to come up short. They have physical gifts that are undeniable, but I don't see anyone from a pro system who can play chess. I see spread offense QBs who have a learning curve ahead of them, a long one. I know Foster is rising up board very quickly, so I'll look into him replacing Sheppard. Bailey is my top workout warrior. I'm taking a chance with him. Ryan Williams I know of due to 3 degrees of separation. So its a personal pick. Friend's best friend's relative is Ryan Williams. I can't remember if its brother or cousin. I wanna go with brother. I'll ask later. Tyron Smith has some growing to do in that frame. When he does, he'll go higher. Solder convinced me this offseason that he's the best tackle with who he is. I like him as a person, I think he becomes a good pro. Mambo, thanks for posting that, but Gholston had the stiffest hips on the face of the earth. I ignored that because he broke Vrabel's sack record at Ohio State. Miller was actually ranked just below Quinn initially, but I switched it last second. Miller's senior bowl erased a lot of questions.
Nice list, I dont know if I agree with Allen Baily or Kelvin Sheppard being a top 50 player but I agree with everything else
I think he was saying that Cam Newton will only be the next Vince Young if he plays with one arm and leg.
^ ah fuck I did. And I didn't want to put Cam on my top 50 either, but I feel like I should hedge my bets. Ah, that was supposed to be Johnathan Baldwin. I too hate this QB class.
I'm not a fan of Cam Newton either but 49 is seemingly low. Unfortunately, I watched a few too many AU games last Fall.
