It's kinda excessive to try and have 2 elite pass rushers at OLB(looking at you Steelers), especially with bigger needs. One great and one good passrusher is perfectly ok to have. While I am disappointed in Spencer on how he failed to meet expectations this past season, he's an above average #2. Going into his contract year and with Rob Ryan as his DC, I think he's in for a 8-10 sack year...
The Cowboys will likely cut Terence Newman and that will leave a huge hole at corner. Amukamara was most definitely the right pick. No one can tell me otherwise.
Right after the SB I told my friend who's a Cowboys fan that he should expect Prince as his 9th overall, but don't be shocked if its Cam Jordan either. So I'm right there with you.
The concern not only lies with Newman, but Jenkins as well: http://espn.go.com/blog/nfceast/post/_/id/25275/rob-ryan-has-no-use-for-a-coward
I'll put an end to this...Terry Bradshaw, Joe Montana, Tom Brady...ALL vanilla names who have a won a total 11 Super Bowls & 8 Super Bowl MVP awards.
C'mon, Bradshaw sounds cool. And I'll argue about Montana. It sounds a bit exotic. I give you Brady though... sounds like Brandy... which is a girly name, so yeah.
And as a guy who wouldn't be counted on to start right away, he'd have time to develop for a team like that. Not much time, but some. There are a lot of people who love Kaepernick but just can't justify using an early pick on him. I wonder what his draft status would be if we KNEW there was a rookie cap coming this season. It's crazy that we could very well get a rookie cap imposed on these guys AFTER they've already been drafted.
WTF? Where else do the Cowboys go? They were in the bottom 5-10 in pass defense last season. Aside from CB, their biggest needs are a better NT and at S. It's way too early to pick either of the other positions, so of COURSE they're going to look long and hard at Amukamara. "Dreadful"? Really?
Yeah, I definitely think you had the best draft of the night. It's a tough call between GH and Mr. E for 2nd.
I don't really know. We'll see!! If others drop out I'll add new GMs. Jabba, is gone and MG took his place.
Interesting that it's been assumed the Pats were going to load up on defensive players but here we've got them going offense 2 out of their first 3 picks.
Bills need a RT badly...I really like Ben Ijalana's potential. Long arms, strong tough player that had a good combine. I expect him to be a borderline rd 1 pick next month. Tough to pass on a QB (not happy with the choices), but it looks like the Bills are going with Fitz for now....need some protection.
I wasn't the Pats' GM in the first round - I probably would've went defense with both of their first rounders. The Gaytriots need someone that can stretch the field - Smith is pretty damn fast.
