Just curious here, would you care to elaborate as to why you have Kaepernick as your #2 qb? What does he do (that you see anyways) that makes him worthy of a #1 and for instance what do those other QB's starting with Gabbert (since we can currently name him) not do that makes you think they don't belong as top picks?
like I said, the DL and Secondary guys i have in mind would be reaches at #30, but i don't think the pass rusher we are both thinking of will make it there.
I usually don't go in for these circle jerk congratulate each other mocks, but Mr. E has made this thread awesome.
Ayers is a pretty popular pick for the Jets at 30 after the Combine. I have a rule with the NFL draft: the cooler the person's name, the better their chance at success. Guys like: De'quan Bowers JJ Watt Prince Amukamura Julio Jones Akeem Ayers Colin Kaepernick All have a greater chance at success in the NFL because they have a catchy name. Kyle Wilson? Boring name, boring production this season. John Conner? Awesome fucking name. Soon to be all-pro FB. It's a science that's all.
And there he is WW wanted him BADLY and got em fairly. Ayers would be a very exciting player on the Jets D. One other thing, Im really surprised theres a certain OLineman not picked who had a great combine. Edit: wait nevermind Anthony Costanzo was picked by the Colts, didnt even see that.
Kaepernick has a strong arm, he's a hell of a runner, he was incredibly productive, and he wins. Gabbert wasn't very productive in a more gimmicky offense and he couldn't beat "good" teams. I see Kaepernick as more of a leader and his ceiling is higher.
Arguable. Vernon is a pretty vanilla name. It's gotta be some straight up gangsta shit usually. Then again, Jamarcus is a pretty hood name. I guess it works both ways. If your name is really cool you'll either be great or a complete and colossal bust. BTW not sure if there's been talk about it on TGG but apparently Jamarcus 'purple drank' Russell is losing his mansion because he stopped making payments. What a douchenozzle.
The fact that he had a not so steller combine along with NE needing to address the Oline more then the OLB position really helps the Jets chances at Ayers. It might not be as tough as it may seem.
I love the pick, I had Kaepernick lined up for the Redskins' 2nd in the 3 rounder, but I pussed out and couldn't pull the trigger. I thought he needs a year or two of polish, which doesn't fit what the Redskins needed IMO. With the Seahawks though, he doesn't have to be forced to start right away. Fantastic upside, just needs to get his footwork down...
