That comparison makes no sense at all. I still don't know how Tim Toone was drafted and Barnes wasn't. Keo is a special teamer - we already have two safeties like that in Ihedigbo and Smith. We need a safety that can cover. Clemson's DeAndre McDaniel probably has the best ball skills out of all of the in-the-box safeties. He's just always out of position and that scares me. If he's coached up, he can be a difference maker.

The poster is a big-time follower of the draft, watches hours upon hours of games/film, and subscribes to several pay sites and frequently doesn't give citations. Thought some of you might find it interesting.
still hate the idea of taking taylor at #30, I honestly don't think there is another team in the first round who would even consider him, and with the myriad of great players in the late first round, reaching for a NT is just stupid.
While I agree that it's stupid, I can easily see some team doing it, especially if they're just switching to a 3-4 alignment and don't already have someone on the roster to play the NT position. Rex uses the 3-4 differently of course, but in most 3-4 alignments the NT and the pass-rushing OLB are THE two most important positions. While Taylor didn't have the production in college to merit his being picked in round 1, his size and athleticism probably has some GM and/or HC salivating already. Let's not forget all the workout warriors that are drafted high every year. Also, some kids are late bloomers. You can't teach athleticism or physical talent. Someone will probably take a flyer with him hoping they can get the light to go on and have a monster in the middle of their D. Heck, even a lot of Jets fans of different sites want Taylor at #30.
The Chiefs could take Taylor before us anyway, they really don't ever pay much attention to perceived value in their picks. They go with whoever they want, wherever they want, and they need a Nose bad.
^ Take him at 30. :grin: That 10 yard split is proven by how he looked in the LB drills. He planted and turned so beautifully on one drill my eyes literally got big when I saw it because that means he can learn to drop into coverage. I think this kid can make us happy in 2-3 years when he learns the system. His rookie year he'll just be sent at the QB all day as a 3rd down specialist. He'll pick up 4 sacks and people will call him a bust.
IDk man, even the darkest of darksiders wouldn't consider anyone with 1 sack in their rookie season a bust after Gholston. I'm pretty excited for this draft, I'm optimistic the CBA will get done this week.
oh yes they will. because of gholston they will be after any highly drafted pass rusher who doesnt put up a minimum of 5 sacks his rookie season. The argument will be he isn't as bad as gholston, but he still isnt a real pass rusher! remember the D'bust arguments? and the idiots who felt that Revis was horrible his rookie year? The guys who wanted to crucify Sanchez after his horrid 3 game stretch his rookie season, which in a lot of cases, were the guys who tried to annoint him after the first 3 weeks of the season.
I don't think we can worry about knuckleheads like that. There are always people around who are ready to label someone a bust or who are ready to criticize whatever move the Jets make because it isn't the one they wanted the Jets to make.

If he's able to show that same burst and play-making ability in the NFL in his rookie season, even if he only has 4 sacks, I don't see how anyone could call him a bust. I was wowed when I watched film of him today. He definitely looks faster, more powerful and to have a better motor than Ayers, Wilson or Houston. Of course, I still have a lot of viewing to do, but based on what I saw today, I want Brooks Reed in a Jets uni.

Jets talked to Von? Thinking about another trade up, eh Tanny? :grin: Most of those guys are either a 1st round or 3rd round pick. Some are later rounders. Good list of prospects too.
I like that they talked to Kerrigan... the more I think about it the more I think he could fall to #30...
