Half of them combine (think voltron) into one with the abilities of all of them. Nah, still cannot replace Holmes.
Most of them have entirely different skill sets. If we feel confident with Edwards and Cotch as 1/2 and are going to bring in a new receiver, it'll be a slot guy like Moore or Amendola. I just want to know which "half" fits that bill.
there are only 3 guys on that list who we should even consider bringing in if we lose Holmes (with the idea of replacing him). and 2 more to bring in if we just want a slot guy and let J-co and Braylon play the outside. The first three are Sidney Rice, Malcolm Floyd and Mike Williams. even williams is pretty questionable... Slot guys: Stuckey and Lance Moore are the two I would like in our system. In short thats 5 guys I would even want near our team as a top 3 receiver out of that list. Would love to see his reasoning behind half of it myself.
And those first three are going to get solid offers from their current teams. Rice will get the biggest WR contract of this offseason's crop.
Dude, you've been breaking my balls, but you are twisting everything I post, and making it into something I didn't say. To answer your last 3 posts to me: 1:Marshall DID get 10 Million per year. I don't think Holmes will get 10 Mil. I think Holmes will get an offer from another team that is than we should pay. 2: I didn't call Holmes a top WR- I called Fitz and Marshall top WR's. Holmes probably has the ability in the right system to fall in somewhere around the 8-10th best. Stat wise, he was probably 50th. 3: Half the guys on the list-- Yea, I wouldn't mind having half the guys on the list because they are young, talented, and should be affordable. I didn't say that Brian Finneran is going to "replace" Holmes. I posted before that if I had 12 Million to spend on WR and another position, such as OLB, I'd spend the majority of that on the OLB, and I'd spend the rest on a complimentary WR like Stucky. By nitpicking, and twisting what I post, it just tells me that you don't have any legit argument.
I like Holmes the most but S. Rice or Sims-Walker would be nice replacements. Albeit they are different types of receivers than Holmes so there would be an adjustment/re-synchronization period w/ Sanchez. But "half" that list wouldn't be on my roster.
This is pretty stupid to even speculate...the Jets already said they made Holmes their #1 priority and slapped him with a 1st and 3rd tender to back up their claim. He is going to be re-signed..same with Cromartie.
I addressed his question about where the 10 million came from. He didn't correct me, he stated someone elses opinion about how the agent might ask for 7-9 million. If his agent starts his negotiations by asking for 7 Million per year, I'll request a life long ban, and you won't have to deal with me anymore. As for Lamar Woodley-- keep twisting bro. Clearly stated it was for an example only. As for dismissing, and countering the points about Diminishing returns, Sanchez' stats over the games without Holmes, Kellers performance etc-- please show me the posts that "quickly countered them".
Here's my fucking reasoning. Chansi Stuckey (CLE), Jacoby Jones (HOU), Lance Moore (NO), Ben Obomanu (SEA), Danny Amendola (STL) James Jones (GB), Steve Breaston (ARI), Early Doucet (ARZ), I'd take any of these guys for a reasonable contract. I don't want another #1. I don't want fucking Sidney Rice- just go all the way and say you want TO and Randy Moss. All of these guys are capable, young, inexpensive players. Hopefully I won't get called out for saying that I like Half of the players when I only listed 25.8% of the list. My apologies.
Most of the guys on that list suck. Floyd sure he looks pretty good, but hes also got an elite QB throwing to him. Mike Williams has had 3 good games, HIS ENTIRE CAREER. Jacoby Jones blows, and only catches balls because everyone's trying to cover his AJ/Daniels/Walter. Lance Moore again buried on the depth chart so he gets favorable matchups and has Brees throwing to him. The only guy on that entire list that id be even a little excited about is Moss, and thats only if he were 5 years younger. Seeing that list makes me far more worried about losing Holmes, since it pretty much guarentees that Brad Smith is gonna be our #3 wr
Youre talking about Chansi Stuckey as a solid replacement for Holmes. The guy had 120 RECIEVING YARDS from Sanchez EVER and people are acting like him and Sanchez had chemistry and something special Stuckey is not good, theres a reason the Browns had him sitting on the bench most of last season. If the Browns dont even want him, how can you even consider him an acceptable replacement for an elite reciever.
As I already said, Marshall didn't quite get there, and Fitz barely did. Marshall's contract is 5 years, $47.3 million. That's just under $10 million. You're wrong. You said that his agent should be fired if he doesn't seek a contract based on recent top WR contracts. If he's not a top WR, why would his agent be fired for failing to seek that kind of contract? His very best season was in 2009, and he was 7th. That was on a team that came out passing the ball HEAVILY because of all the uncertainty and injuries in 2008 at the RB position. And he was low in TDs that year with only 5. With his uncertain off field behavior, a team would have to be awfully confident they had the "right system" to throw the kind of money you're talking about at him. You're talking about young receivers, then you bring up Brian Finneran? Let's put it this way...we went to the same high school. He and Brad were senior starters on varsity when I was playing freshman football. I'm 31. Again, though, please tell me which guys on that list you'd want on your team if we lost Holmes. I can't wait. And yes, it would be someone replacing Holmes. Not replacing his production, replacing his spot on the team. Most of us have looked at the draft class and said we should be looking at receiver if we don't think Holmes is returning. Some of those guys are players I'd want if we lost Edwards, but few are guys I'd want to replace Holmes with Cotchery on the team. Clearly, since you can't seem to actually respond to what I say.
Those guys suck? As #1 WR's, no many of them wouldn't be the best options. As #2's, most of them would be pretty solid. As #3's, almost every one of those guys are good options.
Mike Williams has had 3 good games in his entire nfl career and youre talking about him being a good option. Jacoby Jones simply underperforms even though he gets INCREDIBLY favorable matchups playing behind AJ/Daniels/Walter and is mostly useful for his special teams. Floyd is the only one I really wouldnt mind so much, but the question is how much of that is due to playing with Rivers.
wow, you're worse than that other guy. Please show me where I said Mike Williams is a good option? Jacoby Jones caught 51 balls this year, and he's "mostly useful for his special teams"? These are the guys that I would like as #3 receivers. Not as #1's, but as #3's-- got it? Chansi Stuckey (CLE), Jacoby Jones (HOU), Lance Moore (NO), Ben Obomanu (SEA), Danny Amendola (STL) James Jones (GB), Steve Breaston (ARI), Early Doucet (ARZ). I don't want to spend the money on another #1WR I want to spend the money on a cheap #3, and another position of need. Cotch, Braylon, Keller and one of these assholes would be great. We're still a good running team, and have backs who can catch.
Now that's a win-win. We get Holmes back and we add to the board by subtracting you. So what other OLB would you like to spend the $10 million on so you can sign Stuckey? If you were trying to provide an example of splitting the money better between a WR and an OLB, why not at least use a plausible and relevant one? Your point was that he had "too many weapons". For a 2nd year QB on a run first team with a fresh weapon, absolutely. For a franchise QB heading into his 3rd year with receivers he's finally comfortable with, those 4 are exactly what he needs. I posted that in my first response, and yet you simply didn't want to hear it. Someone else examined the teams the Jets played in those first games and their situations.
Why does Stuckey always top your list? It can't possibly be his production. Must be fond memories of his time here, as people tend to dwell on. Jones, Jones, Moore, Amendola I like. The fact that you have Steve Breaston, Early Doucet, and Ben Obomanu on there makes me question whether you watch football.
Kind of silly to post this when you're going to still be sitting around staring at the board 15 minutes later.
