But on the otherhand, people post their mocks to be commented on and criticized. No one is forcefully telling him to change it(not me anyway), but at the same time, I'm gonna let him know about things I disagree with. I have nothing against Rock, well except maybe he called one of my favorite prospects a SS
I would never change my mock under public pressure.....screw it. I would make sure it's well thought out so I wouldn't have to bow down to the masses.
I have no problem admitting this wasn't well thought out. Took me about 20 minutes. I was pretty bored today
Me neither, I think AJ Green is the best prospect in this class and I still think he is going to go one overall.
Fair enough, but we'll have to agree to disagree. I think our ILBs are very good, although are somewhat slow and not so great in pass coverage. I think our OLBs are mediocre at best. You make Pace sound like he was great. He has never had one great season. He had one pretty good one before he came to the Jets and they overpaid to get him, but he's never lived up to his contract. With a faster OLB opposite him, he would be more effective, but imo he needs to be replaced asap as well. Thomas definitely needs to be upgraded. You even admit that, and the two most important positions in a 3-4 D alignment are the NT and the pass-rushing OLBs. While Pouha is no Wilfork, he has been very solid and played much better than I ever thought possible. So has DeVito. Ellis is not a JAG. Pitoitua was a 7th round pick or a UFA and shows great potential. Jarron Gilbert has tons of potential, and the Jets are also very high on Marcus Dixon. Thus, they have some excellent young prospects for DE already on the roster. Tevaseau has shown some promise, but I still would like the Jets to draft an NT prospect. The thing is as Mr. E (or someone) said, good NT prospects can be found anywhere in the draft. Jason Ferguson was a 6th or 7th round pick I believe. I would be very happy if the Jets drafted Powe, Fua or Kendrick Ellis in the 3rd or 4th round. One of those guys could be the type of NT you want. While I do think the rest of the D would be more effective with a stud at NT, those guys just don't come along very often, and the Jets have glaring needs at pass-rushing OLB and a S who is good in coverage and a playmaker. Unfortunately, this isn't a great draft for safeties, so I think there's a chance the Jets will draft at least one, if not two DL prospects as well as an OLB prospect.
I Hope Not As much as the Panthers need a topnotch WR to pair with Steve Smith, and more weapons for whomever their QB winds up being, I hope they they will go with Cam Newton or Fairley or trade down.
I'm still on the stance that our DL is the weakest link on our defense. Before I get into this, I just want to state, I want to see us get our sack artist. I agree we do need someone with a major upgrade specifically geared towards pass-rushing. I just don't agree that this is our biggest problem. Pace is not a bad pass rusher, he has shown with a better line, he can succeed. I can't think of any team with an all star sack artist that has a bad Dline in front of them. Woodley - Harrison: Amazing DL Matthews - Zombo: Good Beefy DL Suggs - Johnson: Amazing DL Ware - Spencer: Solid DL That aside, the team as a whole, didn't do bad in the pressure and sack department. I think things are a little blown out of perspective. The problem from what I seen last year was our DL struggling on obvious passing downs, and I remember there were plenty of times where I seen our DL fail to make the intended lanes for our LB's to make a play. Run or Pass. Especially against the pass. I've watched games over and over, and it just seems like common sense to me.
Jarret Johnson is garbage. The Ravens will be looking for pass rushers in this draft too. Kindle's already a failed experiment I don't know how you can say Baltimore has an amazing defensive line either. One of their players is. Haloti Ngata is the best 3-4 end in the league. No one can tell me different. Kelly Gregg is incredibly underrated, but I wouldn't call him "amazing". Cody proved that he can do a little damage in short yardage situations, but he's no where near starting material...yet. Cory Redding is pretty good player, but he's not elite. The Ravens had to use Paul Kruger at defensive end due to lack of depth - he was drafted to play OLB. I like to give defensive line's credit, but Terrell Suggs gets sacks because he's Terrell fucking Suggs. The same goes for Clay Matthews, Demarcus Ware, LaMarr Woodley, and James Harrison. This team lacks an elite pass rusher - it's our obvious #1 need.
You certainly have a valid point that with a very strong DL, the rest of the D will look and play much better. That said, the front 7 has done extremely well vs the run the last two seasons. Their worst two areas on D by far are in pressuring the QB and covering TEs, RBs and WRs over the middle of the field. In most 3-4 alignments, unless one has a DE of the freak nature of Richard Seymour, the DL has little to do with either of those things. Conversely, that is the primary responsibility of the LBs and to some extent the safeties. Those are the two weak links in the Jets' D imo. With a better DL, perhaps the Jets could get better pressure themselves on passing plays which would help Pace and Thomas, but I don't think the difference would be as marked as if the Jets get a true pass rushing OLB with speed. Thomas just doesn't seem to have the knack or speed for getting to the QB, and Pace was never that good and is slowing down and having nagging injuries. What would free up Pace more is having a dynamic guy at OLB opposite him that would demand the offense double team him.
Updated in the opening post. I switched a bunch of spots so I probably screwed up somewhere and a premiere player disappeared from round 1 by accident. I'm happy with it.
8 Titans - Marcell Dareus - DE - Alabama Dareus wont drop this far not even past Buffalo or even at worst the Browns. 9 Cowboys - Cameron Jordan - DE - Cal Cowboys wont skip over Prince, Jordan is good but not over the 2nd best CB. 17 Patriots - Muhammed Wilkerson - DT - Temple Wilkerson over Watt??? No way in HELL 19 Giants - Akeem Ayers - LB - USC Ayers goes to UCLA and the Giants need an ILB ( Like Martez Wilson) or Oline more then a OLB even though its not the worst pick in the world. Why did Houston or Brooks Reed not make the first??
Well make it a bit more clear, I couldnt tell at all. Ill critique the new one, just for constructive criticism.
I almost think Houston and Dallas picks should be switched, I don't think Paea fits Dallas 3-4 with Ratliff entrenched at NT. Also not sure Liuget fits in San Diego, especially with Watt still on the board.
