I may change my mind, but I'm not very high on Cameron Heyward. I'd rather have Houston the OLB from GA. I'd be surprised if the Panthers take Bowers. They have some good young DEs, especially Charles Johnson. They don't have any really good DTs. With Rivera being the HC I definitely think they'll go D rather than Al Green or Cam Newton unless they can trade down, but think they'll opt for Fairley.
Yes. Sorry, guess I wasn't clear. What I meant was that I like Houston more than Heyward as a prospect, but even if they're rated equally, I'd rather go with the OLB prospect over the DE prospect.
Some good players that fill needs....not too bad. Players that deserve Rd 1 consideration: Aldon Smith Torrey Smith Justin Houston
BUT....when you're drafting a player for a NFL team you need to note the position they're going to play for that specific team.
I don't see the Falcons picking a DT, especially if you have the likes on Sherrod, Aldon Smith, and Houston going later than when they pick. They need to address DE,OT,and WR with their first 2 picks. Falcons have a 1st(2009), 2nd(2005), and a 3rd(2010) round picks invested in their DT rotation not counting Jamaal Anderson, who they moved inside a lot the past 2 years...
If the Jets passed on Aldon Smith my face would explode. Side note, so would the faces of fans for the ten or so teams that would have taken him before our pick.
I don't get this rational for them not taking a DT in the 1st around. Who cares when they drafted the guy if he sucks?
Look at their roster and you might get it... Peria Jerry, Corey Peters, and Jonathan Babineaux are already playing defensive tackle for Atlanta. Kroy Bierman has the ability to move inside as well. If Jerry stays healthy, they'll be alright. They have much bigger needs.
My point is, they have 2 young players who they won't concede to being busts after 1-2 years. Peria Jerry and Corey Peters both finished their 1st full seasons(Jerry missed all but 2 games in his rookie year of '09). The 3rd rounder, Jonathan Babineaux, has performed well the past 2 years, there is no reason to replace him either...
I want a DE/NT with the 1st rounder. Would rather take someone like Heyward over Smith, Houston, Sheard, etc.
When you put the slash in between defensive and nose tackle, does that mean you want a guy that can play at both spots? If so, Cameron Heyward can't do that.
