Cam Newton will be a damn good quarterback in the NFL. Cakes can dig this shit up in three years and rub it in my face if I'm wrong about him...
Three years??? He was rubbing JC in my face after one year and hardly playing....you're fucked my friend.
If I don't make a prediction on Newton one way or the other and you don't go crazy with Newton predictions all over the board (like Raiderjoe did with Russell), I'm not likely to comment. We all make mistakes with these players here and there. I get pissed when a guy calls you a dipshit and moron for having an opinion that is different than his opinion. See the abuse I took from DWare because I thought (and correctly, I'll point out) Vernon Gholston and Manuel Ramirez were going to be turds in the NFL. That's not exactly what happened.
tons of NFL "experts" make up, so much bullshit about off field/asshole players. but this dude seems like a prick.
He's the kind of guy you worry about giving a ton of money up front cus who knows what he'll do with it
He plays a position where it's almost a good thing to be one of those. As long as his teammates like him, he'll be fine. I hate that people are comparing him to Vince Young. Young lacks confidence for some reason - Newton has plenty of that.
The only similarities between Cam and Vince are a Natl title and they are both black QB's they have different games. Some of you keep saying he cant read a defense please post a link or provide some sort of proof besides your biased opinion.
I don't have a problem with that knock right now, but Newton wasn't asked to make a lot of reads at Auburn. In Malzahn's offense, things are simplified for the quarterback. This kid is a dynamic talent at the position. If you build an offensive scheme around him, he'll do well. It might take a little while to get the pieces into place, but in the end it should be worth it. I think it's pretty damn stupid to compare him to guys like Vince Young, JaMarcus Russell, and Brad Smith. He's a completely different animal. Newton just ran a 4.58 at 248 pounds. That's ridiculous...especially for someone that plays quarterback. The sky's the limit for someone with that much talent. Hopefully he embraces the challenge.
When I say Vince Young, I think he's going to fail because he's not going to understand this business. Team Newton, icon bullshit, overconfidence to the point of me looking at this kid and asking, "Do you get it?" And I absolutely despise QBs who are athletes first. I like QBs from pro systems, that's just me. If I were a scout, I'd never take the athlete first QBs. I want a kid who has multiple reads, has taken snaps under center, etc. I don't like Gabbert either because I'm not high on spread offense QBs coming out of college.
Aaron Rodgers proves it true, but he also has the intangibles that are required to be great. I hated how he held the football when he came out of school.
Draft Cam Newton and make him our pass rusher. Or our safety. Or our quarterback. Even our runningback. He's just a beast.
I'd cut Nick Folk and use Newton as kicker too. The jets will probably lose Brad Smith so Cam Newton will be the new Swiss army knife
