Does he sound retarded to anyone else? The volume of his voice keeps on going up and down. It kind of reminds me how Ron Burgandy talks. He isn't really even answering questions. He also referred to himself in the 3rd person. I would not want this kid to be the face of my franchise
They just asked him "How would you sell yourself to teams, what separates you from the rest of the quarterbacks?' He said verbatim "I don't know"
Word on the street is that Cam was in the same room as his father when he was being shopped around the SEC for cash. I can see him having the 'get paid and life is set'. He'll get his nice contract and then start maxin out wit da homies.. screw football at that point.
I think Mike Lombardi said it best, Newton came off as naive he didnt really understand what he was saying
Sounded like a dumbfuck, laughed off a comment about him stealing, which at the same time he was admitting. Dumbshit.
I missed it, link? http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-combine/09000d5d81e7f97d/Newton-speaks-at-combine?module=HP_cp2 This has some of it, none of the stuff mentioned in this thread though.
This board is so predictable what do you want him to say he is trying to get out of the press conference without creating another issue. Cam could care less about your opinions he will be a star in the NFL. All of a sudden Blaine Gabbert is the #1 QB he was not impressive in college and will get exposed in the league.
He's not my boy I actually like Mallett but he has to clean up his late game play(eliminate the interceptions). Cam is being crucified as if he killed someone so he cheated on a few tests and bought a hot laptop and his dad tried to make some money so what the biggest CROOKS are the members of the NCAA who exploit these college kids in all sports make millions off there talents and wont even buy them a meal.
You missed the part where Newton doesn't get this business and its going to hit him like a Mack truck and he'll never recover let alone be savvy enough to read a NFL defense. He's another Vince Young waiting to happen in terms of career path.
Why the hell is everyone jumping on my 'Cam Newton will be a bust' bandwagon all of a sudden. This is bullshit
I can't believe how much NFL.com left out on their little clip of his presser. They almost took out all the bad parts and tried to make him look as good as possible.. I still think he's gunna be a Bill. Kind of like the way the jags were going to take Tebow last year.. to try to bring something to the franchise and give some boost to their fanbase
Hey everybody, come and see how good I look! The human torch was denied a bank loan. Unique New York. Unique New York. A month or two ago, Dwyane Wade referred to himself in the 3rd person by using his jersey number. That was maybe the douchiest 3rd person reference ever.
I would still take Cam Newton over any QB in this draft. He might be a douche, but he wins. Vince Young's problems were that he was so insecure, that when he entered the NFL he couldn't deal with criticism. Newton is the opposite. While he is a little too confident and I do think he will have a wake up call in the NFL, I think he has the composure to bounce back. Not to many people could deal with all the distractions he had to deal with and still win. He is high risk, but I would still take him in top 10 if I needed a QB.
i guess a free education means nothing.... To a normal (non-future pro) college athlete, a free ride is more than worth it. That degree is worth hundreds of thousands. And to those of us who are forced to take out loans, by the time the whole is paid off (with the 17.5% intrest on my newest loans) the undergrad degree may be worth over $300,000. I don't even want to speculate what the total will be after graduate school. So yeah these guys are making a pretty decent penny while going to school, they just don't get it applied to their bank accounts. Its a shame they don't get that all important bonus pocket money so they can start driving maserati's as freshman. The great college players will get their money soon enough, and the not so great get a free education to go out a make more money than they would without a degree, add in the bonus of not having to pay back the loans and knock out the stupid high interest levels, and they really come out ahead. Yeah the schools make tons off the kids, but don't the CEO's of major companies make millions while paying the frontlines a pittance? they don't exactly share the wealth evenly with the working class do they? The NCAA regulations imposed aren't all that helpful (you should have the right to sell your own property to get some extra cash) but lets not pretend these kids are slaves and are working for 2 meals a day and the right to worship the lord on Sundays.
