Just heard it on the 3:20 update on ESPN 1050, 2.3% across the board increase. Also PSLs going up $5--that I don't get. So now it's $10,005? Glad I'm upstairs, also glad I didn't send any money yet.
Just edited the post, 2.3% across the board, according to ESPN 1050's 3:40 update. These guys are out of hand, and they want to lock out the players, too? WTF?
Sadly it's just like the MTA. They keep raising the prices because they know we'll pay it (well, not me, I hop turnstiles and steal cable, but fans in general).
http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/news/story?id=6147912 NEW YORK -- The New York Jets are raising ticket prices. The team announced a 2.3 percent across-the-board ticket increase Tuesday, with most PSLs going up $5. Prices for the PSLs range from $2,500 to $25,000. Upper-level seat prices will remain unchanged. Also, the payment schedule has been modified because of the NFL labor situation. Fifty percent payment is due April 1, with the rest when training camp dates are announced. The team also said business-side employees are being asked to take a one-week per month unpaid furlough if the NFL and its players' union fail to reach a new labor agreement by the March 3 deadline. The Jets have played in the past two AFC championship games, losing most recently to the Steelers 24-19 on Jan. 23. Copyright 2011 by The Associated Press This Cant happen. If we have a PSL how can they change the price on it when we made a contract on that amount. Ticket prices I can see not PSL though....THOUGHTS!?!?!
Doesn't sound right. I bolded the part about upstairs, that's looking like a better decision more and more. Could it be that they have no leverage over the upstairs fans and barely sold out the games last year?
It means PSL ticket prices not the cost of the PSL. On average the PSL cost per ticket will go up $5.
Thanks, I was like....... I think they should do like the Giants and make upstairs pay like 1000 or even 750 a seat. They would make more money that way if they are trying to get money.
2nd year in new stadium, and its not even that great!! No roof, no wow factor. I think they could have waited a year. Im just pissed about it and now hearing that its doesnt effect upper deck and that upper deck can get yellow parking passes. Just shocked all around my 8 tickets will be $400 more this year

The Jets have made adjustments for their 2011 season-ticket pricing, including a contingency plan based on the NFL’s current labor uncertainty. Ticket prices are going up 2.3 percent on average, Jets executive VP of business operations Matt Higgins said, with personal seat licenses being raised $5 across the board and pricing remaining unchanged in the upper bowl of New Meadowlands Stadium. With the collective bargaining agreement between the NFL and the players union due to expire March 4, and no new agreement yet in place, the Jets have a contingency plan accounting for the possibility of a lockout. Instead of 100 percent payment on season tickets due on April 1, as would normally be the case, fans only need to pay 50 percent by that date. The other half of the payment would not be due until a new agreement is reached and the league announces when training camp will begin. "While we have every reason to believe the season will go forward as planned, we have modified our policies to reflect the uncertainty," Higgins said. "You certainly do a lot of contingency planning you hope will end up in a file in your desk somewhere." If games are missed, season-ticket prices would be prorated accordingly. But the cost of PSLs -- assigned to every seat in the stadium except the upper bowl for Jets games -- would not be prorated, Higgins said, because that is a fee intended to be paid for the life of the stadium. The price adjustments for each section are based on an annual evaluation that draws on several factors, which could include pricing on the secondary market and customer feedback. A full pricing map will be posted on the Jets' web site later today. The upper bowl prices are remaining flat because of fan feedback on improvements that needed to be made. As a result, the Jets, the Giants and the stadium will team to add additional shelter to the upper bowl concourses in the end zone as well as 40 percent more capacity to the men's restrooms in the upper bowl, reconfiguring and adding urinals to relieve long lines. "We think there are some significant steps we can take to improve the experience, and until we do that, we've decided to hold those prices flat," Higgins said. In addition, the price of parking in the outer orange lots will be reduced from $25 to $15 for existing season-ticket holders. Fans with seats in the upper bowl will also have the option, on a first-come, first-served basis, to upgrade to vacant spots in the closer yellow lots, costing $25.
Why do people act like a football team is some sort of protected service? They saw an increase in demand, so they want to raise prices to meet that demand and to maximize profit. What's wrong with this again?
About the PSLs... Say you bought 10k PSL season seats last year. You paid 10k for the license plus 10xticket price for all the games (per seat owned). Going into this season, do you pay the PSL again or is it just face value for the tickets x 10 and parking? Basically what I'm asking is: do you pay a PSL every year or is it a one time purchase/license that is held until you forfeit the seats?
The psl is a one time fee. It allows the owner the right to purchase his seats every year. If you do not want the seats anymore, you either sell the psl in the open market for a price or forfeit the psl money to rhe Jets
