Who out there believes that next year the Jets should concentrate on winning the division instead of shooting for the Super Bowl, granted this is the ultimate goal, but If we accomplish this task the road to the playoffs would have to come though the New Meadowlands instead of us being the road team like we have for the past two years.
I'm a little more in favor of purposely coming in 3rd,this way,we're awesome, but nobody will have suspected it. Gotta be smart about these things.
8-3 on the road this year including playoffs 7-4 on the road last year including playoffs This team seems to be playing better on the road. It would be nice to avoid the wildcard round though.
Maybe...but the only thing is, there's still risk. The other team could do the same, then we'd be 0-0-16 and probably miss the playoffs. I'd say it's better to win 16 coin tosses, lead the league with 16 30 min first half drives that end in TDs, then attempt 2nd half offside kicks and recover then in 16 straight games, running 30 minute drives each time to win games 10-0. Finish the season with 160 pts for, 0 against. 960 minutes of possession. Defence should be rested for the playoffs that way. Hell, Jenkins might even be able to play.
The Patriots, Falcons, Colts, Chiefs, Eagles all won their division but didnt win a single playoff game.
I don't like this plan. It's too obvious and everyone will be looking for it. We should try to go 9-7 and sneak in the back door with some help. This way we lull them to sleep and we've got the other teams right where we want them.
We wouldnt even be talkin bout this if they hadnt come out flat the first half of the AFCCG but oh well.
I mentioned this on here a few weeks ago. You guys have proven that you can win road playoff games but I think it is just too difficult to be in that position every week. Obviously it has been done before with the Giants in 2007 and Green Bay this year but I think it definitely hurts a teams chances.
