He mentioned stats because a lot of the national writers who aren't anything close to scouts like to base their opinions on stats. I'm not saying that he was consistent or inconsistent, but the stat monster can be a significant enemy for 34 end prospects. Heyward may have had off games, but if it was because he was facing consistent double teams it wouldn't concern me one bit. And I wouldn't be surprised that Carimi would succeed against him in game, UW traditionally has great line play and also was lines up next to another outstanding lineman, John Moffitt. It's a lot easier to expose holes in 1 on 1s. Yeah, it's like that age thing all over again... (I kid, I kid)
Cameron Heyward has the ability to be on of the best 3-4 DEs in the league. He has the strength, the football acumen, and the agility the position requires to excel above the norm for the position. If he is the best player available at #30, the Jets should take him without any question. That being said, I hope he isn't the best 3-4 defender available at #30.
Taking you up on this. I will freely admit this year I barely watched college football and come into the draft season the least knowledgable I've been since I truly got into football. Anyway, my questions for you (and Cato and others): 1. Is he a solid block occupying 3-4DE, or a he can get sacks DE like that asshat Seymore? 2. If he is available, but a really good 3-4 OLB/pass rusher is also available, who would you pick and why?
You know what happens when you base your draft picks on how your fans feel? You end up drafting a kicker in round 2.
... you cant really say "language" when you allow people to write EVERY other curse word on the site. #JusSayin. be consistent. or have a filter..
What?! And I've been abbreviating everything I've been saying to under 140 characters? Well sheeeeeetttt....Well no more! I realize like everyone else that our front 7 wasn't great this year. I don't watch a ton of college, but what position in the front 7 that we need to fill is likely to have the best talent available when we draft? And which one is 'easiest' to make an impact on early? It would be really helpful to have someone step in and make an impact...unless we can fix the pass rush through FA.
The whole # thing is from Twitter, that's what he was saying. He wasn't talking about the abbreviation
Jets with the 29th pick in this years draft??? I know it has been discussed tons of times but the NFL network has the Jets picking 29th. I have been watching it pass across the screen all morning is it a mistake?
Whats the tie breaker in that situation, the bears made it just as far as us and had the same reg. season record, but they won their division. So whats the deciding factor?
Cameron Heyward, hands down. This team needs DL help in the biggest way. For those that have watched Cam, it's obvious that he is a legitimate football player and not another Gholston. They aren't even at the same position in the NFL...
