He won't be there - Cameron Jordan.

He's the next Shaun Ellis but better.

Despite knowing this was coming, it still cracked me the fuck up when I read it.

Yeah, that seems like a tremendous overreaction.

lmao. i'm starting to like this guy..
mr. predictable, i knew you were going to write that... in verbatim.

but i'm serious though, drafting heyward would set us back even further when there are more talented prospects that could play the 5 technique #deadass.

    you will argue that?

    Question???

What do you know about Cam Heyward's ability.

Let's be honest, you're not going to scam me....I live in Columbus (not a OSU fan) and have seen his entire career.

i respect that. i feel the same way when people try to talk about UConn athletics or Big East football.

i'm basing my opinion about Heyward when I look for consistencies between sources that are published on him.

& the only consistency, is his inconsistency. the majority of articles I have read, have noted that throughout the season he either had a brilliant game or was lost. that either he could get to the quarterback or he just couldnt get off his blocks. these are not just sports columnists or bloggers from Ohio, these are writers from most major syndicated columns all saying the same thing; and indicating that in order for Heyward to be taken within the top 20, he needs to have a great pro day and combine.

not to mention that carimi kicked his ass when Wisconsin played OSU. & dont even tell me you would debate that..because I saw that game (when carimi is getting beat by a lesser talent in Christian Ballard from Iowa in Senior Bowl one-on-one drills).

I will say that Heyward looked great in the Rose Bowl against Oregon, but i'm all about "what have you done for me lately." & this season he was hit and miss.

I would jump on board with Heyward at #30 if someone can convince me that his inconsistent play wont transition with him to the NFL.

If you want to look purely at stats, Heyward's numbers weren't impressive this season. You have to look beyond Heyward's numbers and look at the total picture. Do you know what the objective of a 5 tech in a 3-4 defense in the Nfl is???. Heyward fits the bill to a tee. Takes on blocks, colaspes the pocket and lets the rest of the defense make plays.

First, Heyward played his best game ever againt the Razorbacks, he dominated a good O-line. Heyward was taking on multiple lineman and consistently wore them down. If you watched the Sugar Bowl, Heyward had a ripped Jersey on his back, what does that tell you???

Heyward had a great game against PSU.

Heyward didn't have his best game against Wisconsin, but wasn't terrible. The entire team was flat and Wisconsin stepped up their game..in the house of pain.

Heyward always seems to take on double teams. You need to look at OSU game film and Heyward is held by lineman very often. Heyward taking on multiple lineman frees up other defenders to make plays.

All these 3-4 rush Lbs you've been mentioning have flaws in their games.

Don't be stat crazy, especially when it comes to evaulating 3-4 DEs. I'm certain if Heyward played in the Senior Bowl, he would be on par with Cam Jordan's motor.

I can't repect someome's opinion who makes statements about a player's game when they haven't seen his entire body of work and takes the word of "syndicated columns".

Didn't you watch the Sugar Bowl?? IMO, Heyward was the best player on the field.

You're new to this site....let me tell you something about stats. About 3 years ago when everyone on this site and others were prasing Gholston for double digit sacks, and saying he's going to be the next All-Pro defensive player in the NFL.....I was telling everyone "BEWARE", he's fools gold.

Moral, don't rely totally on stats.

Cam Heyward passes the eyeball test on being a solid 3-4 DE in the NFL that will have a long very good career. The kid loves football, cares about his school (didn't declare last year) and teamates and is very intelligent.......everything Gholston lacked.

I won't comment on UCONN B-Ball, I don't have complete know of their program, just you shouldn't comment on Heyward's game cause you lack the knowledge.

What he said. I don't think Heyward is there at 30 but if he is he'd be a great pick.

i will go with what you say. but not once did i mention stats.. read what i wrote. i talk about inconsistency in his play.

& unlike you, i differ when it comes to reading published football pieces. those are journalists with decades of experience covering college football. i will recognize that the majority are subjective, and have their favorite players.

but the perfect example is the senior bowl, when brooks reed was written off as a project and projected as a 4th rd pick.

he had a great senior bowl, and now those same writers are declaring him to go in at least the 2nd rd at the minimum.

but to counter what you wrote, the emphasis of your post was on stats.
stats weren't even taken into consideration.

also, do you think that the front office will take a player from ohio state given that their latest bust was from ohio state?

i think that the front office will not risk negatively affecting the fan base by making a move... unless heyward really impresses the country with a strong showing at the combine and pro day, and creates a growing support for his draft stock.

i just dont see an ohio state product being drafted by the jets in the 1st rd. at least in this year's draft..

I don't comment on players unless I see them in action. The reason I called you on Heyward was your one line "I'll kill myself if". So many come on this site and say stupid shit and don't have anything supporting their opinions.

Anyone can regurgitate stuff they read on the internet or scouting columns etc.

What I try to do on this site is make posters think about what they're saying and back it up. I'm not trying to be a smartass and I don't think you're a bad person or have an agenda in your posts.

I don't think it's the school. I don't know much about which schools produce a ton of busts but I think if they do their HW on a guy they'll pick him regardless of the school. I would think they learned from the Gholston disaster (even tho they only had 3 picks in the 09 draft they nailed on all 3 even Matt Slauson in the 6th round...we'll see what happens with the '10 draft)

I think Rex could give two shits what other's think, including the fans. There is no doubt most uninformed Jet fans will hate Heyward if he's the pick......cause he's a Buckeye.

    Time to get over Gholston.

Holmes and Mangold are 2 damn good buckeyes.

    Bingo...TE in the 1st Round.

I loved the pick, I saw a ton of Keller in the Big Ten and knew he would create mismatch issuse.

solid counter argument.. i didn't even take that into consideration. the 2006 draft is still the best Jets draft in the past five years in my opinion.

even though we didnt draft holmes in 06' he's still on the roster.

real talk though, i appreciate that insight.. because the stigma is overwhelming. similar to the stigma that USC produces horrendous quarterbacks based on Leinart, yet Sanchez and Palmer have shined.

i'll start taking a different view of heyward now, since you helped me look at it different.

I had no idea who he was...checked out some youtube highlights and still saw some people were pissed about the pick.
