It is the rule I just disagree w/ it. SOS would be fine for breaking a tie if we hadn't played. They beat us and got a 2 seed compared to our 6 seed yet we draft after them? it doesn't make sense.

Yep. I've always wondered why that rule is in place myself. It's absurd, especially when you consider we're looking for a 3-4 edge rusher and Chicago has a history of trying to force 3-4 players into their 4-3 defense.

Jarron "jump outta the pool" Gilbert".

I thought it was strange pick by Chicago. Actually, when the Jets trade up with Detroit in Rd 3, I thought it was for Gilbert. I wasn't disappointed with Greene

I hope the Jets let Gilbert compete in training camp.

    Considering that

    1) Earlier this season a team wanted to sign him off our PS and we decided to elevate him to the active roster.

    2) We don't have a lot of certainties at DE

I think he'll be given a fair chance.

If not I'm really intrigued by this Muh Wilkerson guy out of Temple... WOnder what his stock will be after the combine.

Wilkerson is probably a guy that will be a late 1st, early-mid 2nd pick come April.

Agreed... but small school prospects tend to be more influenced by the draft process workouts...

atm he's a guy I'd like if we moved back to the beginning of the 2nd round but maybe after the combine he'll solidify a 1st rd grade... it will also depend on how much guys like Watt, Heyward and Liuget will fall.

Temple isn't a "small" school - it's not like he played at a FCS school. The MAC isn't the best conference in the world, but it's a FBS conference. The Owls played some tough out-of-conference opponents in 2010: Penn State and UCONN.

You can't label him a "small school prospect", when he didn't play at a small school - some other posters said it best: stop acting like you know what you're talking about.

Muhammed Wilkerson was arguably the most dominant player in the MAC.

i'm torn between phil taylor & wilkerson.. the jets need a Nose Tackle and a Defensive End as Pouha is 32, there is no depth behind him & Kris Jenkins tore the same ACL twice..& he'll be turning 32 come August; he will not be the same player he was when we signed him.

heres a clip of wilkerson for those who haven't seen him before:

Wilkerson has excellent arm length, outstanding hand play at the line of scrimmage, plus can play the run/pass equally good. He is an excellent prospect..

I'm not completely sold on Liuget. In the highlights I saw of him against Ohio State, he couldn't seal the edge (compared to Wilkerson), and over pursued on a lot of plays.. Wilkerson to me, is the best overall prospect in the late 1st Rd./early 2nd Rd.

But the question is, do you pass up on Wilkerson for Phil Taylor? Or do you wait for the 2012 NFL Draft when Alameda Ta'amu 6'3 348lbs (Washington), D'Angelo McCray 6'4 330lbs (Memphis), or Kerry Murphy, 6'4 323lbs (Alabama) may be available at the Nose Tackle position for that Draft Class?
