Top talent? Garcon and Tamme aren't top talent. Garcon was near the top of the lead in dropped passes and was even questioned about his effort this year. Tamme is a poor mans Dallas Clark. At what point are you going to give credit to Manning for elevating the play of these guys? They wouldn't be half the players they are if they were playing somewhere else.
Ok let me just touch base here by saying, how can the steelers relate to the Jets in any way shape or form with the heartbreak of losing a championship? Steelers last superbowl-2009, Jets last superbowl-1969. Steelers championships won and appearances well over 8 already........ Jets championship wins and appearances, only 1 win and 3 appearances. Now then, if you really think you know heartbreak for your team then I pity you, I may not have been around those 42 and almost 43 years of hope for our team, but you best believe your so called heartache can never match up to the poor fans that have been around since the first superbowl to now just waiting for the day to celebrate another Jets victory.
Reggie Wayne is a top WR, Wayne and Garcon are a top duo. Did you see how he embararssed the "great" Antonio Cromartie? Tamme isn't Dallas Clark but he's still a good player. The Manning apologists like to pretend that Indy had no talent, he went from his usual top 2-3 talent to top 10 talent- poor guy. He had MUCH more talent around him on O than Brady. All great QBs elevate players around them, this isn't groundbreaking but when will you admit manning has been surrounded by elite talent all his carer? so much so that when he "only" has top 10 talent people act like he was QBing the '95 Jets. What has Weis done w/o Brady? Manning has NEVER been clutch, even in his one SB run he was along for the ride for all but one half against the Pats. 3 TDs and 7 INts in that SB run, they won w/ D and running the football.
Hell I live down here in New Orleans and seeing the Saints finally winning the superbowl, and seeing my family and friends celebrating there years of torment and let down actually made me cry. Im happy for all of the Saints fans and the Saints organization because that team has shown so much heart to get to where they got. Im counting down the days for when the Jets win there long overdue superbowl because the first thing im doing is catching the first flight up to NY and celebrate with the gang green nation.
The point was pre winning SBs this past decade. from 1979-2004 they didn't win any SBs andfrom 1994-2004 they lost 4 championship games.
Yes I understand their losses in those games, but they have a bunch of Lombardi's stowed away in there trophy case along with championship titles. I think its more depressing tho to go 42 years without a SB than only 2 years, but that's my opinion right?
I know I have no authority in even being in here because of me only being 20, but being a fan of the jets since 2000 I truly believe, as every other Jets fan, that we were due a superbowl appearance. It pained me to watch us getting slaughtered the first half of the game, but my mind set was that the Jets have always been able to make comebacks, I really wish they could have pulled this one too. Im still just really saddened over our loss against the steelers and I joined this board to get a even better understanding of my team and to try and relate with other people. Again, im still young and have alot to learn about football and the history of the Jets, and im not here to criticize other teams like most people do. Im just another guy who loves to watch football.
(sigh) Another young kid making me feel my age, lol. I got a daughter only 2 years younger than you, HATES football. Thank God for my son. And you're never too young to understand. I give you all the credit for wanting to know the history of your team. And yeah having Lombardis can be all fun and that, but any time you lose a meaningful game, it still stings for a while. The Lombardis don't take the disappointment away from getting so close.
I hear you on that one. Now that I think about it we should be lucky enough to even have one superbowl win as oppose to other teams that are still searching for it.
To all your Steeler fans who are either from Pittsburgh or have been a fan for 7+ years this isn't meant for you, but haven't you noticed there's a ton of Steelers fans in the NY area these days? Its probably coming from people are exchanging Steelers jerseys for their old Pats jerseys.
But the comparison wasn't from 2008 to 2010, it was those guys that didn't see a SB until 2005 and some of them were to young for the 70s so that was the first title they ever saw. Following the team since 2000 you have no idea what pain is following the Jets. You have been a Jet fan in the greatest era of Jets football.
Ideally I'd like to see all 32 teams have at least one Lombardi and I think eventually you will see that happen. As for the Jets, this is the first time in a long time they seem to have all the pieces in place. It took Bill Cowher 15 years to win a SB after a a few losses in the AFCGs. Rex already had the Jets there 2 times in 2 years. I know the whole patience pays off thing is not what you want to hear, but it really is true. Hang in there young Jets fan.
Wow you are so far wrong it is amazing you would even post what you posted. The "greatest" era in NYJ FB was the 65/70 era when they won the SB & then when on in the season after SB3 to repeat in the POs. Must I remind U since that faithful day in Jan 1969 the NYJs have not won NOTHING & if you think being losers for the last 42 years is great when then you need a reeducation in what the word great means :jets:
This is BY FAR the greatest era of jets football, '68 was the greatest SEASON but 2009 and 2010 is the FIRST time in our history we won playoff games in back to back years. Since 2000 we have made 6 playoff apps, from 1960-1999 we made 7 TOTAL.
So what we were still LOSERs as I stated earlier. There are no prizes for losing any PO or SB game so until we win the "big" one we are just like every other team in the league who does not win the SB just another losing team. If U wish to say that we are a higher level team then say Det or Hout or Jax that much I would agree with but that still makes us 1 of 31 losing teams in the league :jets:
I think im more mature than most of the other young adults and teens who watch football. Im not out to belittle someone elses team, or look to argue with people for fun. I don't argue about football unless im 100% sure im right, and I do my research on teams before I ever open my mouth, teens these days just go with the crowd, and im that one person who's always walking against it.
I'll just say this ... Its impossible to pick any given year and say "THIS is the year we're going to win". No team can do that. Just look at the 2007 Pats who looked unbeatable. There are just way too many variables in the NFL. The only way to win the SB is to build an organization, and a team that's consistenly good enough to be a serious contender year in and year out. If you build that foundation, the titles will come and we FINALLY seem to be doing that. So yeah it sucks that we didn't win this year ... and I'm disappointed and pissed off ... but I'm not discouraged. I fully expect to be right back in the playoffs next year, and the year after that, and the year after that ...
