Hey, Jay, its really nice outside, the sun came out and its in the 60s outside. And in 2 days, there will be freezing rain and a high in the low 30s. Whats up with that shit? Can you do something about it for me, 'cause I want it to stay just like it is now. TIA.
lol...nothing. I will say this, the next storm for you (Virginia right?) will be rain I think. This next storm looks like it touch and go for snow even up north..but that can change. This storm? Heavy sleet at 5am when I decided to venture out...very stupid. No power outages in my area. The sleet is what saved us..the freezing rain when I arrived south was beyond belief. All in all..not sure whats going on up north or south..but It could have been worse. ABYZ, cracked up with your post. Puddle.
Yo brother man, all jokes aside, our local weather dudes are almost in consensus that it should snow here in the next 24 hours, what do you think - south Texas sensationalism, or might I see another snow flake before I die?
San Antonio right? Here is what your local NWS is saying..but when you look it up..it says 30% chance..your area is where this next storm gets going...tough call bud. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY... A CHANCE OF SNOW IS POSSIBLE THURSDAY NIGHT AND EARLY FRIDAY MORNING. THE HEAVIEST ACCUMULATIONS SHOULD BE GENERALLY ALONG AND EAST OF THE I-35 CORRIDOR. AT THIS TIME...ONE TO TWO INCHES OF SNOW CAN BE EXPECTED FROM THIS EVENT. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY COULD BE ISSUED AS A RESULT Winter Weather advisory for 1 to 2"? Big hats..big boots..little dicks? What the hell is going on down there...let me guess..no plows?
Hehe, definitely few plows, and very little in terms of de-icing equipment. I think they probably have more snow plows here than they have in Hawaii, but not many. In (I think) 2003 we got 1 inch of snow here and they shut down I-10 for most of the day. 1-2 inches could mean a snow day for me on Friday. Thanks for the low-down.
What the hell happened? I went to sleep expecting to see the end of the world when I woke up. Instead it looks like a few inches of snow that is already plowed off the streets.
There you go...a near death. Folks that were supposed to get big snows got more ice instead. This storm was a bust for the snow...Ice? not for me at least...what a bunch of bullshit. This sucks. Everywhere you go is a bad step. Our friends down under...holy crap. Now this is a storm. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/
My bet is that you see snow...man..thats some cold weather down there for you guys. Thursday night would be my guess. Guess...guess...and guess.
Today reaped the benefits of living on the South Shore of LI. Not much ice and things are melting at a great rate. YAH!
i'm on the North Shore and my gutters have been iced for weeks. so the rain that is now falling is finding its way against the foundation and into the basement - thru a strategically placed 6ft foundation wall crack just under one of the clogged spouts.... terrible building design with the size roof i have matched up with 5" gutters. i am gonna rip the builder a new one and be his worst advertisement going forward. ease up on the storms please. jil
This is my big problem too. Water cascading off the gutters. Had a water problem in the basement several years ago and brought in about a yard and a half of soil and regraded. It's been OK since then, but this may break the streak. I wonder if there is such a thing as heated gutters? To make matters worse, there is now six inches of water standing at the end of my drieway. The storm drains are all clogged with ice and snow. The melt and rain has no place to go. There is an intersection only one house away that sometimes floods during heavy summer T-Storms despite the 3 storm drains that are there. They are all burried in ice now, like 6 feet deep and 10 feet wide. Oh well, if I get flooded misery loves company, the the 4 corner houses will get flooded before I do.
Didn't realize you were up in Maine.. and I would agree about that with many in New England and driving. Usually by the 2nd or 3rd snow storm the dummies get it.
That cyclone looks like a big monster. I have a friend who lives about 2-3 hours south of its landfall. They were battening everything down and hunkering down for a long storm ride last night.
jaywayne can correct me if i'm wrong, but i think they're essentially the same thing...just it's referred to as a hurricane in the atlantic ocean and cyclone in the pacific or something to that effect.
