Im going to do this at the beginning of each month until the draft. So expect more of these in the future. But as of right now if the following players were at #30 who is your frontrunner for the Jets to draft?

    Pittsburgh OLB Jabaal Sheard

I really like Corey Liuget though. By the way OP, Liuget would be a 3-4 defensive end if he came here.

My bad, I saw him on some other sites listed as a NT.

I voted for Cam Heyward, but prefer Brooks Reed, I expect him to rise to very late Rd 1 or early 2.

IMO, Reed is already a Rd 2 prospect.

The whole idea of drafting a defensive player out of Ohio State makes me want to cry.

    Why??

    Gholston???

    Time to get over it.

Trust me, Cam Heyward is going to be a solid NFL 3-4 DE.

I like Heyward, but we need an OLB rusher.

OSU has had some of the best defensive players in the NFL.

I went with Houston. My vote will surely change by the time the draft comes along. I'm scared Houston is eerily similar to Gholston as a prospect. At least he is a vocal leader and has more experience playing up than Ghoslton did.

I think Cameron Heyward will be a solid, consistent player at 3-4 end, but I feel like we could get similar production out of third rounder or a current practice squad player.

It's not a flashy position, so if our team can't grab an elite talent like a Marcel Dareus or a Nick Fairley, then I'd go after a pass rusher.

Since 06 OSU has had 18 defensive players get drafted. Of that 18 only 3 are above average. A.J. Hawk is very good. James Laurinaitis is solid and Malcolm Jenkins had a solid year but hasnt lived up to the #14 overall pick. Recently the odds of drafting a defensive bust out of OSU are rather high.

AJ Hawk was a huge disappointment.

Hawk wouldn't even be starting if Nick Barnett was healthy. He lost his job to Desmond Bishop.

The Packers are most likely going to cut ties with Hawk after this season.

ok so only 2 above average players from OSU in the last 5 years? 89% chance of drafting a bust out of OSU on the defensive side of the ball currently lol.

Heres a list all drafted players out of OSU.

    http://www.pro-football-reference.com/colleges/ohiost/drafted.htm

Look through that list thoroughly because there are some great players on there my friend.

Whitner? he is a solid tackler/hitter. But not spectacular in coverage. 18 pass deflections in 5 years. Not to mention Whitner was the #8 overall pick. Will Smith was drafted in 04. I stated that 18 players since 06.

From a long ass time ago. The current trend for drafting a defensive player out of OSU CURRENTLY is not a good one.

I agree - NYJ fans need to forget about Vernon Gholston, especially now that the franchise is likely to move on from the player.

True but doesn't that make you want to shy away from drafting a defensive player from OSU?
