good site below dispelling his theory on the Giants essentially being the Yankees, or big brother in this town. http://mcubed.net/nfl/fwtot.shtml The Giants are actually only 17th in franchise wins in the Super bowl era (Jets 20th) The also have only made the playoffs one more time than the Jets. Hardly the class of the NFL. Waitasekent. Waitasekent. Noo Yawk is about champions. No one caz dat da Giants are in da bottom haf of da nfl in wins..
That means nothing. The Giants have brought 3 Super Bowl trophies to the city, and most people can't remember the last time the Jets did that.
lol, c'mon he talks about the Giants with the reverance of being a dominant NFL team. They have 2 more championships than the Jets, and the rest is pretty even. And we all know the Jets don't exactly have a great history. The Giants are no where near comparable to the Yankees. They have 3 championships which is big time, but no where near the history of the Steelers, Packers, Cowboys, or even Dolphins in terms of championships, winning percentage, etc.. They are actually an avg NFL franchise. the Jets happen to be a below average NFL franchise. lol Waitasekent.. Da Giants are a classy ohganizashun tho..
The Giants have 7 Championships The Steelers have 6 Championships The Cowboys have 5 Championships The Dolphins have 2 Championships
Luckily for the Giants in '27 they didn't have to win a championship game b/c their record in title games was pathethic. They were 3-13 in NFL title games. The notion that the Giants are an elite franchise is nonsense. They were the Buffalo Bills of the AFL days known for losing title games and this is a franchise that once went EIGHTEEN years btw playoff apps(only made it to end that drought b/c the Jets crushed the Packers in the final week). Do they have a better history than us? of course, who doesn't? BUt this is NOT an elite all time franchise.
We're gasping for straws here. I'm pretty sure if you were a Giants fan you would defend the fact that they're an elite franchise to death.
I don't think you give me enough credit for being honest. In fun trash talk debate I'd throw in the faces of Jet fans but I can be honest about my teams. They have a better history than us but that isn't saying much. This is a franchise that has lost 13 championship games(pre SB era) and won only 3. That's not elite.
i said Super Bowl era, but i love how you left the Packers out with 12 when going pre Super Bowl (which btw had only 13 teams. not the same). Super Bowls Steelers - 6/7 Cowboys - 5 49ers - 5 Packers - 3/4 (plus a ton of pre Super bowl championships if u want to go there) Raiders, Redskins, Patriots, Giants - 3 Winning % Dolphins .580 (best) Giants not in the top half Wins Cowboys 409 (Giants rank 17th with 323, slightly ahead of the Jets and some expansion teams) The Giants are simply not an elite team in the NFL... No where near the Yankees in comparison, or even any of the above NFL teams.
We are 0-4 in Championship games since the merger, I don't give a damm what the Giants have done, that's pathetic and we can't defend it. They have never lost a championship game since the merger. For you young ones, the merger and I referring to is the AFL/NFL=AFC/NFC
Waitasekent.. hold on.. waitasekent.. ok i'm ready. there are much easier ways to bash the Jets history than AFC championship record. what we are talking about here is the fat mans reverence of the Giants, and how he brings all things back to them as the ideal model of the NFL. ok, commence..
The post I replied to said nothing about the Super Bowl era. My omitting reference to the Packers 12 championships proves my point. And when you talk about the Yankees history..as you did in the post I responded to.. I assume you are talking about the totality of the Yankees history (27 Championships) and not some arbitrary cut off date in the mid-60s.. Because a whole bunch of Yankees championships were achieved in an 8 team league with only one level of playoff..which, as you said, is "not the same"
You can use any time period for the Yanks and they still lead(except since 2010:breakdance. Even adding the pre-SB era the Giants history is nowhere near Yankee-like or even in the discussion for best football franchise of all time. In their own division they are probably 3rd out of the 4 teams behind Dallas and Washington.
I am not disagreeing with that. What I am simply saying is that if you are going to talk about the history of a franchise..you talk about the history of a franchise.
My post prior to the one you commented on references the Super Bowl era as my point of reference. In football, the NFL became the NFL with the merger. That merger also creates a basis of comparison with teams you were comparing the Giants against, which did not exist long prior to the merger ( 1960 Cowboys or 66 Dolphins). It creates a level playing field of history in a modern era. But if you want to use your example of evaluating an entire history, you still lose when looking at teams like the Packers or the Yankees. Not even close still, so i have no idea what your point is..
Imagine if the field goal went through and that Asante Samuel didnt let the ball go through his hands? we would be having a much different conversation. Oh well.
wood ov been an utta disastah! but dees things don't happin to the Giants, as dey are the best franchise of the NFL.. Dats why i named my dog Wellington Dats why i find Tom Cofflin to have da same rugged appeal as da actah Paul Newman Dats why i'm envious of dat unda age girl who got to spend time wit LT Dats why i'd eat my own young like a meetball parm before i'd root for the Jets to win a big one
In your opinion. I guess its a good thing that I am not trying to "win" anything..just stating facts. But good luck with that winning thing. I will try to type slower.
