Insane that A) Cottrell is still around somewhere (San Diego I think) and B) that he actually got head coaching interviews. He is one of the worst DC's I've ever seen. The talent was there with but our secondary sure was garbage. Sam Garnes, Damian Robinson, Donnie Abraham uggghh think of the garbage.
Son, if you are standing on the field in the AFC Championship game, and you have a "problem" getting up any emotion and intensity, you need to start lookin for a new line of fucking work 'cause you ain't a football player anymore.......
WRONG. The worst thing about that era is a team hiring a 3-4 Defensive specialist to come in and work with some clown wanna-be HC and try to make their own hybrid defense on the fly... But, I know I know... junc "THEY WON"
Teddy had success with the 3-4 in Buffalo and then again with Minny After us... And THE INSANE part was that HERM EDWARDS was hired to be a HC... Teddy Cotrell at least coached a defense before... herm never did squat. But I KNOW I KNOW Junc "HE WON"
The jets shot their load in NE, pure and simple, That was thier superbowl. Especially Bart "can't wait" Scott as witnessed by his post game interview and his slack play against the steelers. Especially disappointing considering his leadership position, experience with steelers and his level of trash talking.
UKJETSFAN my feelings exactly!!!! These comments have blown me away---just unreal!!! I would like to see how the organization spins these comments because as you said "it only pisses me off more hearing this!
A good example of an innovator that couldn't innovate any longer. All it took was to work with Herm........... It seems Hermanator is an apt nickname. No one can fuck up a franchise it's players and coaches quite like that numbnut.
Since Big Ben highlights are all over the place this week, they're obviously showing the AFCCG, and perhaps one of the most pathetic efforts on tackling is the 3rd and 12 conversion. My goodness.
Jets came out like Slapdicks..... If I'm Rex, all offseason and preseason I remind them of that and I look for this team to DOMINATE 1st quarters of play and carry it through. it's still UNFREAKINGBELIEVABLE that this Rex coached defense layed such an egg.
Now that several days have gone by, this I think should be an even bigger subject for discussion in the off season - how did that happen? I know there will be those who will more or less say just because, shite happens, get over it, and several variations thereof. But the reality is that things happen, or don't happen, for a reason. How could the Jets have come out and had so many missed tackles? We can't possibly say ALL the credit/blame goes to the Steelers. It's not like their O is so much better at running it than everyone/anyone else. And this was no trap regular season game, either. Win and you go to the SB - not enough motivation there? I don't know the answer, but there is an answer, and we need to find out what it is! Our off seaon quest has begun...
Well, we do have to admit that the Jets played their last 8 games that included 2 IN Pitt, 2 IN NE and one in Indy and one in Chicago.... I don't have to look to know that there isn't a team that comes close to that kind of finish Vs Playoff teams ON THE ROAD. Jets played an extra game over the Steelers and the Steelers and their fans were pumped up..... BUT STILL................................... Uggggghhhh!!!!! When the Steelers lost their Center IMO, we should have been blowing up that hole.
I hear what you're saying but does that really explain the missed tackles in the first half? If it were the entire game I might buy that, but something was really off in the first half.
I think there's somethign to that. But imo the NE game was the greater challenge in that regard, and they were likely nearly as tired for that game as the Pitt game. Yet they played it completely differently.
Exactly. If that was the case, why weren't there eleven missed tackles in the second half? Im hoping that the players were as disgusted with their first half performance asthe fans were. Maybe it will give them some fuel for next season.
