Fun draft guys....looking forward to the 7 rounder in March. I like my Broncos draft...I'm not thrilled with the Vikes draft...Locker wasn't the best choice, but without a trade down, it was the only choice. DENVER BRONCOS Rd 1 - Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn Rd 2 - DeAndre McDaniel, S, Clemson Rd 2 - Danny Watkins, OG, Baylor Rd 3 - Jurrell Casey, DT, USC MINNESOTA VIKINGS Rd 1 - Jake Locker, QB, Wash Rd 2 - Davon House, CB, New Mexico State
There's really two major reasons. First because I think that Rashad Jennings has a chance to be a pretty good back, and I wouldn't be scared about him getting big carry numbers next season if necessary, and second because there's a lot of depth left when it comes to RBs available. There's seven or eight guys that I would be happy to get in Rd 4 to pair with Jennings and develop behind MJD when he's healthy.
They have faith in Rashad "Franchise" Jennings, not to mention they have a capable ballcarrier in Greg Jones.
I liked what I saw out of Deji Karim too when he got his chances. Was a very good KR weapon for them.
Like you said, I think you did a damn good job with the Broncos. adressed some needs and got some really good value. Fairley, McDaniel, and Casey would go a long way in helping that D gain some respectability. Getting Dumerville back will help too. As for Minny, you were really backed into a corner with Newton, Gabbert, and the corners gone. The only other option that wouldn't be a reach would be to take a tackle there. Then, you could have gone QB in the second. That probably would have been my strategy, but I'm jaded and I really don't like Locker as a prospect. If the Vikes like Locker that much, I think that's about as good as you can do with those two picks. EDIT: After his senior bowl, I'm thinking that Locker may be had at the Vikes' second rounder, allowing them to focus on building up their line in the first in this scenario while still grabbing Locker in the 2nd. At this stage of the game though I definitely understand the pick.
Yea, Jennings was highly touted at Pitt, but transfered to be close to his Dad who was sick. With the move to a smaller school his stock took a big hit. Not sure why he came out early, but I have a feeling he needed the moeny after reading about him in his draft year. Jennings is a interesting guy for a tandem backfeild, not sure exactly why he has not received a bit more work yet. GM's point about RB depth is very true. I really wanted to steer away from running back round 1 for Miami, because I feel there is good talent available 3rd round and later, but all my targets for mid 1 were gone outside of RB. The 4th and 5th round may supply guys who can handle 10 to 15 carries a game in the up comming season.
Real happy with my Charger's draft, so far: Rd 1 - Cameron Jordan, DE, Cal Rd 2 - Brooks Reed, DE/OLB, Arizona Rd 2 - Kyle Rudolph, TE, Notre Dame Rd 3 - Robert Sands, S, West Virginia Rd 3 I really need to add another player at a certain position, big need, but no value when I was drafting. Couldn't pass up Robert Sands surprised he lasted this long.
Thats a great draft if ive ever seen one. If thats how the chargers draft ends up turning out, the Chargers are going to be one team you do not want to fuck with. (even more than they are now)
Agreed its a good draft. Shame you cannot fire the coach so all the players can reach their full potential
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES, BakerMaker Rd 1 - Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin Rd 2 - Muhammed Wilkerson, DL, Temple Rd 3 - Rashad Carmichael, CB, Virgina Tech Liked what I did with Philly.....typical Reid draft to get 2 big men and also get a nickel CB too that could have potential with the team if trained right. None are really pretty picks but they are needed.
I'm finished I'm happy with how I finished... Chiefs RD 1- Phil Taylor, NT, Baylor RD 2- Sam Acho, DE/LB, Texas RD 3- John Moffitt G/C, Wisconsin Could have gone WR over Moffitt but not in love with any reciever after RD 2. But he will open major holes for JC and TJ. Bucs RD 1- Ryan Kerrigan, DE, Purdue RD 2- Brandon Burton, CB, Utah RD 3- Lawrence Wilson, OLB, UCONN Their defense needed a boost and I tried to give it to them. I could have gone safety instead of Burton, but I thought with Barber being about 150 its time to give them player they can groom next to Talib.
Thanks I was hoping he was going to be there. Wisconsin's line was great this year and he was a big reason for it. His versatility will be great for KC who have an aging interior line.
Not a big believer on the Saints taking a RB so early because I don't think they realistically will but Todman is such a stud....that if he fell around that range, they would groom the 20 year old and have him ready as a big contributor in the offense.
NEW ORLEANS SAINTS, BakerMaker Rd 1 - JJ Watt, DE, Wisconsin Rd 2 - Drake Nevis, DT, LSU Rd 3 - Quan Sturdivant, ILB, North Carolina Rd 3- Jordan Todman, RB UConn Really like how this went....got the upfront defense well needed that was exploited last year and get a great RB option for Peyton to turn to when the going gets tough and when the eventual Bush injury occurs.
Chargers take James Brewer, OT, Indiana....keep an eye on Brewer's stock, he's rising. I expect him to be at least a 2nd round pick in April, if not better. Had some nagging injuries that held him back.
I envy those of you that had multiple picks in certain rounds. Carolina Panthers: 1. AJ Green, WR, Georgia 2. Sione Fua, DL, Stanford AJ Green was my highest rated player, so I took him #1 overall. I wouldn't be surprised if Rivera decided to go with Nick Fairley though. The Panthers' front office and coaching staff wants to bring in a veteran QB to tutor Jimmy Clausen, so drafting one of the best wideout prospects of the last decade wasn't a tough choice for me. Sione Fua is a guy that can play in multiple schemes, so he'll be able to make the transition to the 3-4 when Rivera decided to make the switch. Indianapolis Colts: 1. Nate Solder, OT, Colorado 2. Stephen Paea, DT, Oregon State 3. Andrew Jackson, OG, Fresno State Solder was too good to pass up that late in the first, plus the Colts desperately need offensive linemen. There was absolutely no reason for Stephen Paea to be around when I picked in the second round. ...even with the meniscus injury, he's a top tier player. He'll more than likely go in the top fifteen. Andrew Jackson is a Pat Hill offensive lineman. These kids come into the league and have success - we've seen it with Logan Mankins and Ryan Wendell. Fresno runs a pro-style scheme, so a lot of their blockers come into the league ahead of the curve. If he wasn't injured a couple of times throughout his career, he'd be a late-first, early second rounder.
