Sidney Rice and Chris Houston are going to be expensive. I doubt their teams let them go. Rice is a #1 receiver. Minnesota would be stupid to let him go. Houston completely turned his career around in Detroit. Jim Schwartz loves the guy.
I agree with the consensus...Pouha held the fort intact after Jenks went down. But, Pouha is more effective as a rotational player, imo. That's why i hope Rex/Tanny are fixated on improving the DL in the offseason.
He'd be a good pick up, but Pouha has been better than him at the position - for some reason Mambo doesn't realize that Pouha is an incredibly underrated player. I think Soliai could slide out to end on certain plays too. We need a rotation.
I would love to have Franklin as well but he and Cullen Jenkins are big time free agents and this thread is for the lesser free agents that we could more easily afford.
Spaeth could be interesting if on the cheap. Would be an upgrade over Hartsock as he can block AND catch well..
I think Pouha is solid but certainly upgradable... he is great against the run but other NT do a better job than him in the passing game. That said I won't be pissed at all if Pouha ends up being our starting NT next year. PS as another user said, I remember Pouha playing very well at DE before Jenkins got hurt in 2009...
Kamerion Wimbley, Manny Lawson, and Victor Abiamiri are intriguing OLB options depending on the price tag.
Hell yeah... I also wouldn't be against bringing back Stuckey... he'd come here for cheap (imo) and could be a reliable slot too...
He returns kicks as well.. Bush handled the punt returns, so idk if he is capable. For a low number, I'd love to have him too.. he'd be good as our slot. I imagine he'd get a similar type of deal as Brad Smith though, so it might be better to just keep Smith.
I love the way smith hits, wish he had the body of Scott or Harris. He tends to get lost in coverage at times. Maybe it's his height disadvantage. It doesn't make sense to match him up against a TE, sometimes it just happens. He got better in coverage throughout the post season.
Lawson's about to make bank. Some team is going to completely overpay him because he's a physical freak.
calm down, bud. Woody can't afford him, apparently. we're here to talk about Kedric Gholston instead.
F-em who knows what the cap will be. Besides after the Jets sign Harris, Edwards, Holmes, Chad Johnson, Terrell Owens, Aso, Ngata, Landry, cotchery, Brad Smith, Eric Smith, and Cromartie...there will be plenty of money left.
somebody gets it...finally. I get a kick out of people telling everbody what we can and can't afford in Free Agency....without a new CBA....it's all fluffy bullshit. I like the discussion of possible Free Agent signings....but saying who's going to be too expensive and who isn't at this point...is asinine. Woody has deep pockets, people....and he wants to win. Barring the salary cap....I wouldn't expect Woody to put a limit on Tanny's credit card.
Id like us to take a close look at Antwan Barnes from the Chargers. Would be rather cheap, is young and showed promise, played for Rex in the past, plays special teams, oh and knows how to rush the quarterback
...the guy has nine career sacks through five seasons. I'd be okay with bringing him in on a minimum contract - hopefully he could develop into a situational pass rusher, but that's highly unlikely.
