David Williams, OT. Old when the Jets throw all kinds of money at him, and one of the underachievers in Hess' last spending spree. Hardly ever played, and made a ton of cash.
Hahaha good one. He was terrible but i'll never forget what he did for us in that rain game against New England.
I liked Neil O'Donnell, but I would have to agree, he was a bust. I have tried to block out the 96 season, but I seem to recall he could have used a better O line in front of him. Wasn't he sacked a ton?
That's the point you do not get rid of kicker who freaking punted your way into a round in the playoffs for a guy who had gone on record publicly and said he would rather retire then play here. He performed at a level most of us would expect but he was brought in to help fix the passrush issues that continued for the whole year. I would have rather had Feely locked up and looked else a rookie (unheard of) with one leg and hunchback before gayson
Quincy was a good signing. He was low cost, low risk and when Chad missed 3 games he went 2-1 as a starter.
That's a bad pick not a bad trade. We actually made a good tradein the 1st rd to move out of rd one andn pick up additional picks/players. We just didn't make the right choices w/ those picks.
Hatchette did nothing for us but he cost us nothing. Bad FA signings are the players that cost alot of money and we have expectations for. Hatchette was not a bad signing. It was a low $, low risk mopve. he didn't work out and we moved on w/ no penalty. It wasn't like signing Steve Atwater or Eric Green.
Wouldn't we have been able to get Heath Miller is we didn't make the trade (not to say we would have taken him).
Brett Favre? Not only did he get our hopes up with a fast start, only to shit the bed to keep his precious streak alive, but he left a trail of sexual harrassment complaints and lawsuits that will take a lot of $ to fix.
Yes. I believe he was still available but heath Miller here w/ a new QB every year would have been a different player than he is in Pitt w/ Ben. He would have been run out of town by now. Jetaho: favre did sabotage our season BUT that was a trade and while it was a terrible move it turned out to be a great move but not on purpose b/c if we don't make that move we likely win the division in 2008 and we still have mangini and Chad P and we don't have rex and sanchez so short term that was an awful move but in the long run it turned out to be a great move.
You're right. It was a trade. Dammit I suck. I agree everything worked out great, but the organization's chasing of Favre was almost as stupid as Mangini promising to name his kid after Favre. I bet Mangini winces whenever he looks at that little kid.
we haven't really missed on many free agents. usually you don't cause by the time a player is a FA they have a large body of work behind them to judge
