It's going to be even rougher this year, because everyone has just about exhausted their snow budgets already, and most cities and towns I know are trying to figure out how to deal with next year's deficits.

The dude who plows for me charges $35 per average storm, and he comes back a couple times. I'm one of about a dozen or so driveways he does between the commercial lots he plows. Sometimes, in hellstorms, he uses a frontend loader and I think he charges me $45 per storm. I forget. Now, I tell you all this because I need to know if I'm overpaying and sending this guy's kids to college.

    I need a goddamn plow.

    Dear jaywayne,

It's been snowing here every day this week. Make it stop.

35 - 45 is cheap if he plows it to ground every storm.

Plowing is good money. $80/hour before taxes from the company I plow for and about $50/private driveway depending on the amount of passes.

I couldn't do it if I didn't have a regular job where I set my own schedule because obviously plowing is almost always an overnight gig.

It's 56 out right now. High in the mid 60s tomorrow. A little chilly, but pretty normal for this time of year. Maybe I'll walk down to the beach with the kids tomorrow morning, take them to the playground. If I can dodge all the snowplows and all.

Seriously stop all this cold already, it got old about a couple of weeks ago. 65 degrees is inhumane to walk to my school in the morning...I actually had to put on a sweater.

No. Her due date is tomorrow.

    It's crazy.

Our second was 2 weeks early, we figured this one would be too. We figured wrong I guess.

Being in the city drives me kind of crazy. She's officially on maternity leave now. but we've already had a "scare" (which was just some light contractions) but when I'm at work I gotta rely on the transit system which is not always so reliable. Especially in this weather. This is my first, I want to be there for it.

You want to be there for every one man.

It's the most amazing thing in the world, really blows your mind. The emotions and the work your brain goes through during the delivery are intense.

    Good stuff dude.

That's true. I do have to drive for 2 hours to get to the snow. Or walk a few blocks to the beach.

I guess you can drive 8 miles for snow. How close to a sunny beach can you get in 2 hours?

How long were your first two?

First one for us was 24 hours from water break to delivery. Second one they had to induce due to medical problems. No progress after over a day let to a C-section. Of course, both pregnancies had complications throughout, so we were prepared for whatever happened.

    Lol, yeah no beaches now.

First one- late 2 weeks. Induced. Labor was 16 hours from first admin of pitocin.

Second one- 2.5 weeks early. Not induced. Labor was 4 hours once the contractions were "real".

Badge...and even more bad news and this one could be the worst of all.

Very VERY long story short...the next storm, if the track holds up..will not be the biggest snow producer..but it could be if not for the track.

The bad news is that this storm will affect more people than any storm I can remember on record. Its actually off the Oregon coast and will move thru the country and actually move west of our area...which usually means rain.

Easy way to remember is a storm to the West USUALLY brings warmer air because of the counter clock wise roation and a storm to the East of you brings cold...west brings it from the south...east brings it from the north east.

Problem is that there will be so much cold air that it gets locked..combined with a storm that will form off the coast from this one.

Tried to keep it short but lets just say..depending where you live...30-40 hours of downright horrible weather with the dreaded Ice Storm for the NY metro area. Will keep you updated but just check out the loop of this baby off the west coast...it looks like a damn hurricane.

    http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/wcwv.html

This storm might go down as the most disruptive coast to coast storm in decades.

Starts sometime Tuesday and ends Thursday morning (NYC METRO)
