I get that, I was talking the Mets making trades to get better. IMO Angel Pagan had his best year last year and has never shown that he could maintain it. He is not that young so they should have shipped him while his value was high. They could have gotten somebody decent for him. They need to upgrade the pitching on this team. Instead they bring in a guy who has a history of being on the DL and not on the field.

This FO has conceeded this season.

With Beltran's recent health history isn't Pagan necessary?

In a perfect world I would trade Beltran then again Pagan has a health issue filled history as well.

It really is. How many wins do you see this year? My guess is around 80 at best. It's highly possible we have no pitcher that gets over 13 wins this season.

I agree - it's hard to see this team finishing over .500, even if things go reasonably well.

I will be disappointed if Pelfrey doesn't win at least 15 games (then again, I'm used to disappointment!). Other than that, who knows?

The most depressing thing, now that the Jets season is officially over, is the hapless Mets are actually going to start playing.

At least I can hang on to the Rangers.

they might have an outside shot at the wild card. all it takes to win in the league is to play the game hard. theyve showed no signs of doing that the past 5 years but ya gotta believe right?

So apparently the Mets are looking to sell 20-25% of the team...with no real say as a minority owner and not offering any shares of CitiField or SNY - good luck with that one, Fred

The wilpons are a complete fucking joke.

Anyway ref the question above I am going for 70-75 wins! At least the labor situation will keep the nfl in the headlines so I don't go completely depressed in mets land!!

I think we are underestimating what kind of strategy Alderson is using here, it's the same strategy that Billy Beane uses in Oakland, all teams pick up players from the garbage pile, it's the players with specific numbers and attributes that he is picking up, players who play the game the right way.

Just look at the Manager, he is a stickler for playing the game the right way, so to have veterans in the clubhouse who can influence the younger players, it will be priceless. How many times did we see Beltran miss the cutoff guy, trying to get the out at third and letting the runner advance to second? these are little things in the game that come back to bite you.

Let's not forget where this team was at the All-Star break, 9 games over .500, they went downhill as soon as Castillo and Beltran were put back in the line up, not because they can't play but they were not in baseball shape, so instead of having one easy out in their line up they had three, no one can win with six players in the line up doing the work, pitchers will just pitch around them. They ruined the chemistry of the line up.

I truly believe this team will win 85-90 games this year.

Look at the Angels, they are competitive every year because of the way they play the game.

Lets not bury the team before the season starts.

I can't see the team being worse than last year.

They exceeded my prediction by 1 win last year. Let's see if they can do it again. I predict 82 wins this year.

Sell the whole fucking team Freddie, how about that? You're fucking broke. If you "love" the Mets so much, do the right thing and sell the team to someone with the capabilities to improve the franchise, and to someone who won't alienate the entire fanbase everytime the owner opens his fucking mouth.

Just saw that the Mets will host the 2013 All-Star game - That home run derby is going to absolutely suck.

Citi Field's HR ballpark factor last year was 27th out of 30 ML parks. Angel Stadium (host of the 2010 game) was 23rd, Busch Stadium (host of the 2009 game) was 26th, AT&T Park (host of the 2007 game) was 20th, PNC Park (host of the 2006 game) was 25th, Safeco Field (host of the 2001 game) was 29th. Comerica Park (2005) and Kauffman Stadium (2012) are also in the bottom half of the rankings. In other words, Citi Field will be the 7th of 9 games from 2005-2013 being played in a below-average HR park. Nothing unusual about it.
