Asomugha lakum my brothers... This thread will begin as a place to discuss the latest news on the New York Jets pursuit of part-time free agent Cornerback & full-time savior Nmandi Asomugha. If the stars align and we are worthy, this thread will later transition into a place of worship for Aso Ra the Sunday God (who will hopefully reward our faith by not dropping an interception in the AFC Championship Game next season.) Post any related articles or personal opinions regarding this potential signing. ESPN: Asomugha-Revis tandem now possible http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/24617/asomugha-revis-tandem-now-possible I will also add this interesting tidbit... The plot thickens...
getting Aso would be like a dream come true but I hope it doesnt mean that we have to release several players of value (Holmes/Edwards/B.Smith types not JT's) to do it
Most football experts claim that Wide Receiver is the easiest position in Football to replace...so I would not let Holmes, Edwards & B. Smith stand in the way of getting Asomugha (as much as I like all those guys.)
That was my first thought. It was also my first thought with: Kris Jenkins Brett Favre Braylon Edwards Jason Taylor LaDainian Tomlinson Mike Tannenbaum is pretty good at making my first thought look pretty dumb.
John Geiger GeigerGeiger everybody start freaking out. Obviously we know Revis is talking to Nmadi right now about coming to the Jets(@ the probowl). I think it's impossible for these two to hang out, and not bring up playing together.
You can put god himself in our backfield and our pass rush will still stink *except against the Pats*
If I were the Jets, I would do absolutely anything and everything in their power to get Lamarr Woodley. Aso's great and all, but the value of Woodley so outweighs Nnamdi for this team it's not even funny. We've seen what can be done with two good CBs and no pass rush, fix the latter and go to work.
Right, but the FO also decided to go with Kyle Wilson, who's already a big investment at corner. Even if we get rid of Cro, I would assume that they'd feel comfortable with putting Wilson opposite Revis, and using the money saved on signing a big name to get a safety or pass rusher. Basically they probably see signing Aso as wasting a first round pick than gaining a great cornerback.
i say do it. i bet tanny can get him to come at a discount, too. at this point aso is paid and he wants to win. he needs to get that crazy al raider stench off him and fly like a jet.
