We lost the game cause the defense played like garbage in the first half end of story. Yes, the goal line call was questionable but allowing PITT to run for 150 yards in the first half and kill the Jets in time of possession is the reason.
I think most of us here would agree. We can't really discuss missed tackles for more than 10 seconds though. They happened and that is it. Playcalling can be discussed for months.
The point Im making is, Schotty called two passing plays and they both would have been TDs had it not been for the players mistake. Blame the player, not the coach. Schotty took couple of shots at the EZ and tried to save time. I'm not gonna blame Schotty for that. He ran on 4th down cuz the clock would stop in any situation. Its very simple. Schotty played the clock and called plays that would have been TDs.
True. Offensive play calling comes under the microscope much more often than defensive. Missed tackles should have nothing to do with coaches calling the game. These are great tacklers that missed plays on Sunday...and it was very surprising to see it from our D that has been great against the run.
Play-calling sucked. Execution Sucked. Personnel Pkg Sucked. If you want to pass, go play-action. If you want to run, use Greene. If you are not going to run or use play-ation, don't have your O-Linemen in a two point stance - this is elementary stuff. They deserved to get stuffed!
That's not what they were saying on the Steeler message boards when the Patriots put up 500 yards and almost 40 points on them.
This reminded me of when we had Curtis and Lamont. Same thing, we played the steelers and barely used Jordan. I remember Jordan had something to say about it in the papers the next day.
i can't blame anyone other than hunter for this. unless the play is designed for him to be in a 2pt stance. then that's retarded. it's goal line. get your hand in the dirt.
It's why we played so many close games against mediocre teams. When you're not putting up TD's you're letting other teams hang around. The RZ offense is abysmal.
LT redemption? Do the Jets do things for emotional reasons? Sometimes I think Rex is not cold enough.
But Keller cant catch. I dont care if you have Mugsy Bogues on him. He cant catch. And, I dont blame Sanchez there. An NFL caliber TE needs to catch that, and 90% of the other balls Keller drops or "cant get to." As for Schotty. I am not crazy. Wasting time, bad play calls. The game was not lost when the defense failed to stop Big Ben twice with 3 minutes to go. The game was lost when Schotty inexplicably kept having the team huddle with 12 minutes to go and down by 2 TD. What was Belichick killed for for a week? Wasting time in the 4th quarter. What did boy genius do? The exact same thing. The incompetence is so glaring that it is comical that this idiot is being allowed to suck at his job for a 6th year. Seriously, if any one of us sucked as bad as him at our chosen porfession, you think they would get 6 years to continue to be awful?
Huh? We ran one against NE perfectly. We even ran a nice screen to Cotch for the 2nd TD. There were literally a million better plays there. The bootleg. A HB draw (like the Colts love to run down inside the 5). A fade to Tone. A fade to Braylon. He ran 3 of the worst called plays that I have ever seen. If I were a Pitt defender, I would have thanked him after the game for being an idiot.
That play wasn't a screen to Cotch. It was two guys running drag routes in opposite directions next to each other, the DBs lost their footing/jumped into each other and Cotch was wide open.
Except for 1 thing: the team's most valuable commodity -- Mark Sanchez -- SWEARS by Schotty and showed great improvement in Year 2 and continued his clutch playoff performances. Even if Rex harbors doubts, he is NOT going to rock the boat and force out Schotty or suggest he send his resume to Al Davis or other parts. What he might do is be a bit more inquisitive in key situations like that to make sure the play isn't way off what he'd like.
He would swear by any of us if we were with him since the first day. Sanchez simply does not know any better when it comes to NFL OC's. If this was year 10, and Sanchez had seen other OC's in action and swore by Schotty, it would say a lot more. As for Rex not rocking the boat, I dont buy it. He has literally no loyalty to Schotty. He was here when Rex got here, and probably got to keep his job because Rex couldn't bring any of the Balt offensive guys with him. If Rex keeps him on, its because he thinks he is doing a good job, and while he gets a pass for 2 years, I will be all over his ass, and will call for his firing next year if Schotty costs us 3-4 games in the regular season and a playoff game.
I was just wondering, did we run the wildcat at all during the game? If not, why do you think that is, Smith looked healthy enough...
