thanks steve from brooklyn. nice cop out cim Steve (Brooklyn) Why does it seem that you hate your job as Jets beat writer? You seldom write positive stories on the team and it often comes across like there are a million better things you could be doing than having to listen to Rex and cover the boys. Can you please realize that your readership base actually LIKES the Jets and would like to hear some positive now and then or move on to cover a different team. I don't need Greeny type enthusiasm, but stop being such a hater already. Rich Cimini (1:26 PM) What can I say, Steve? If you don't like it, don't read it.
right him another email, ask him if you can have his job since you would actually want it. That response should be hilarious
Maybe he has to stick with beat writing for the jets because no one else wants him. He's one of the most obvious jet haters I've seen or read, and hearing his voice on the radio just gives me a headache.
What made me the most sick about Cimini is all the BS all year he wrote... And then all of a sudden last week he was all excited like a fan as if he was behind this team all the way.... I don't know how players and coaches deal with two faced tools like this.
I know you're not standing up for this troll of a beat writer with this ridiculous statement. The guy hates the Jets on a Francesa level. If you don't know or see that, then you either a) don't read his articles, or b) are not paying attention.
There's a difference between being a cheerleader and not acknowledging when a team is doing well and focusing mostly on the faults. He doesn't need to be a jet fan, But all he did was give back handed compliments when they did well and then changed his tune when the jets roll through the colts and pats. Haters and cheerleaders are not the same thing. He's a tool.
I read his stuff from time to time, are there times I disagree? Sure, but nothing really jumps out at me on a Francesa level. Please post the articles you think are unfair? maybe I missed them?
And therein lies the problem. Feel free to dig through this past season's worth of jabs. Win or lose, we always did something wrong, and he was always there to point it out, make it out to be bigger then it was, or simply make it up. Glass half-full. http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets
I like Cannizzaro but he is usually a homer. Do we really want more Marty Lyons' and Greg Buttles? This is NT not some 2nd rate town that needs cheerleaders in the media. I agree about the Francesa stuff, he goes overboard against us but as long as guys are fair that is good, I don't want a cheerleader reporting for us.
He said we backed into the Playoffs in week 15. http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/columns/story?columnist=cimini_rich&id=5958096 So Dick, let me get this straight. You can back in before the last week of the year? Funny how I didn't see him tweeting about how the Steelers backed into the playoffs after they qualified after LOSING to us in the regular season. The guy is a flat out hater.
As someone who has worked in the newspaper business on the writing side (college) and would gladly take to the keyboard to do it again if it wasn't a failing enterprise, let me point out that columnists are only as good as the controversy they stir, often times having to use filler they wouldn't normally use on subjects to meet word quotas, and live for responses such as the one you sent him. The best thing to do to the likes of Rich Cimini is simply not to respond if you care to read at all.
OK, so did most of the board. That doesn't offend me, I don't believe there is such a thing as backing in but many people disagree w/ that. I'm sure there are some bad articles where he takes shots but why do people go crazy? He's one writer. My guess is he roots for the jets to win b/c if they keep winning he has more games to cover.
Bingo. When columnists aren't needed, they're not working. Another great side of running a newspaper 101. OP, if you hate Cimini, don't pay for a paper or give his column the gratitude of your IP recorded as one that reads it online. They're retained for that, too. It's all about numbers man. When they get called in front of the senior editor and told they're not producing, it's your emails they show to keep their job. It'll just speed up the industry's inevitable failure.

Two days after a heart breaking loss, the guy uses what was a great quote from an historic rant, coming off one of the greatest wins in the franchise history, to do what can only be considered as throwing salt in the wound? Please tell me you get this, now.
