My most painful memories after 46 years as a Jet fan

1.) 2011 AFC Championship Game (Self explanatory)
2.) Mud Bowl (Shula you scumbag)
3.) 1999 Jets vs Pats (Vinny's torn achilles, a season of promise)
    4.) 1998 AFC Championship Game
5.) 1978 vs Pats 19-17 loss ( cost us the playoffs, Pat Leahy missed 2 XP's and a 30 yard FG on the last play of the game)

I would like to add 2 more to that. Last years AFC champs game loss to the Colts.
I don't know why, maybe the manner in which we lost, but the 45 - 3 loss to the Pats this year. I was so depressed I was sick (literally) for days.

    2) 02 Playoffs @OAK
    3) 98 AFCCG
    4) 04 Playoffs @PIT
    5a) 09 AFCCg
5b) 08 season @SEA: unbelievable loss....worst reg season game I've seen to this day.

    don't forget this one-
    Dec. 27 1981 - AFC Wild Card - Buffalo 31 N.Y. Jets 27
I was there at shea, i watched the jets and Richard todd move up the field for the
game winning drive, and then todd threw a pick at the end of the drive near the end zone. it was cold and painful that day.
Not to mention, Buffalo took the opening kickoff for a touchdown.

The 23-20 double OT "roughing the passer" loss to Cleveland is a personal "favorite."

Nothing, Nothing NOTHING was worse than this loss. I was 12 years old and cried for 4 hours.

1.) AFC Title Game vs. Steelers - 2011
2.) AFC Title Game vs. Broncos - 1998
    3.) Divisional Playoff vs. Browns - 1986
4.) AFC Title Game vs. Miami - 1983
    5.) Spike Game vs. Miami - 1994

The loss the other night is at number one because it the freshest wound. It has been a long, long time since I was actually confident and felt we had an honest shot to get to the dance.

Hope we can avenge this loss next year at our place.

    Go Jets!!!

1998, it's not close. At least after this year I can be optimistic, we finally have a franchise QB. The JETS will be contenders for years to come.

I was there as well. The game started getting ugly, so I started drinking. By the end I was buzzed enough to take the sting out of the loss. When Todd was on, he could be a hell of a qb.

my friends and I were drinking alot too, it was freezing out that day and we were hammered as well.
Richard Todd looked great on that last drive, moved them up the field like a pro, and then he hung one pass over the middle just a tad high and the Buffalo defensive back snared it. the place was ready to explode if that pass made its way into the end zone for a td. the air was let out of the stadium completely.

That was tough, but for me Miami in '82 was the worst. The fact that Shula pulled that stunt and not only did the League allow the game to be played on that swamp, but then they put him in the Hall of Fame. That's a travesty...

I was at that game also. I sat in the first row of the Met's picnic area seats. Those seats were so close to the field, you could have a conversion with the players waiting for the kickoff.

And I was in Hawaii on my honeymoon for that game. The game (not the honeymoon) is certainly up there for worst in Jets history. Also the mud bowl game.
