TBJ- The coin toss deferral was fine last night. The Jets started the 2nd half with a TD. As flat as they were at the start, I highly doubt that the Jets would get a TD on offense. Also take into consideration that the Jets haven't scored a 1st. Quarter TD since electricity was discovered.

That 1st half was a colossal goat fuck.

I have to disagree. How many times has our offense scored in the first quarter this year? Like never, as you said. When you always defer, the offnse's chances of scoring in the 1st quarter gets very low. Rex has too much confidence in the defense. Let me ask this question: How does the offense feel about it? Does Ryan's lack of confidence in them (and that IS what it is) affect them?

We lost the coin toss in NE, and Belichick deferred. And what do you know, the offense moved the ball well enough to make NE start at their own 16 on their first possession. For a change, we went into halftime with a lead. How sweet was that for a change?

Taking the ball first can do several things: If it results in a score, the Jets are playing with a lead, a true rarity early in games this year. It can establish field position in your favor even if you don't score. It can set up for the second posession with much better field position for the offense.

Ryan finally learned to break his tendencies on defense and his blitzing attack style to beat Indy and NE using an entriely different game plan. Now he has to do the same thing on the offensive side of the ball, and the coin flip would be a good place to start.

He talked about being more balanced this year on offense. He needs to look in the mirror and start with himself.
