Pace is overpaid too. Gotta make cuts somewhere. There's two obvious ones. Not to mention GHOSTon's fatty contract too.

Exactly...he's OK on the run but lousy in pass defense.

Remember Bart Scott is the TED linebacker in Rex's 3-4 - he's usually the enabler so that other players like Harris can make plays and tackles as he's usually taking on a guard or fullback every play. He might not've had a great game last night, but really, who did? The entire LB corps acted as if they had no idea how to play Rapistberger - there was no edge contain and so many missed tackles, it's stupid to single out Scott when Harris probably had a worse game for someone who is meant to be an impact player

nobody is singling out scott. like i said in my original post they all missed tackles and this was on the defense. I just dont see him making alot of plays. For a guy who talks as much as he does, u would expect him to do more thats all im saying. still love the guy and want him on the team.

The problem is at OLB. Any really good 3-4 has a playmaking OLB, and we don't have a Mathews, Harrison or Woodley.

Taylor, Pace and Thomas can't cover, don't tackle well and can't generate a pass rush. They also fail to outside contain on a regular basis. How many times did Mendenhall just bounce outside?

Those things aside, I haven't seen so many missed tackles in the first half than I have in an entire GAME since Ryan got here. They were all guilty. Pouha, Devito, Ellis and all the LB's. Coleman also sucked BIG time.

what plays do you want a 3/4 inside linebacker make? everybody missed tackles.

scott, harris, bryan thomas, pace, pouha, devito, ellis, eric smith, pool. they all did.

well i would like him to stop mendenhall at the goal line. he got run over. im just saying for a guy who talks so much he should be doing more. thats why i said everyone missed tackles and im not blaming him. im also looking at the whole season.

Our LBs are a bunch of slugs. No speed= no pass rush. This is why coleman is our best pass rusher.

i would of liked him to do that too. yeah bart scott had a TERRIBLE game, but he was been a damn good player all year.

and yes he may be overpaid, but remember he is rex on the field, and helped teach out entire defense rex's style of play. Bart, and the Jets need a Linebacker on the outside whom can beat their man 1 ON 1. Then you will see Bart Scott get 'flashy' stats

more of a reason to get a dude who can beat his man 1 on 1 on the outside.

Woodley's a free agent :p I'd happily sacrifice a Calvin Pace & Ghoston for his contract.

Extending into the secondary, I also thought Pool had a poor game. Remembering that he was basically identified as Rhodes's replacement, he's been mediocre or worse for the season as a whole.

i agree jfaulknj that he is a good play and i want him on the team. i just think he is a tad overrated. i also agree that our other linebackers are garbage. lookin forward to the future we got a bright one. that is if we fire schotty already hahaha.

i somewhat agree. bart scott is overrated, but that doesnt mean he sucks. he is a GOOD football player, and one of the best guys to have in the lockerroom in the entire NFL.

what was really overrated was to think the Jets had a 'great' run stopping defense. im stunned how nobody would bring Mendenhall down.

I swore I read somewhere that he wasn't happy with the way the Steelers were handling his contract & he'd probably be gone. I gotta look it up.

No doubt. Man, if we have Jenks for a full season @ his capability I think that improves our pass rush & secondary ALOT more. I think that was a our biggest loss. He just opens up so much.

Our linebackers are pretty much average.

Calvin Pace - was brought in to be the pass-rushing threat, but really is a decent player who occasionally sacks the quarterback.

David Harris - he's a good tackler for the most part, but lacks speed. This was clearly seen on the INT return against the Pats when he was easily chased down by a huge TE.

Bart Scott - too bad he doesn't play as well as he runs his mouth. He's the emotional leader but nothing more. As others have already mentioned in this thread, when was the last big play he made?

Bryan Thomas - just a decent player and nothing more. He will go down as one of many Jets draft blunders. 31 sacks in 9 seasons after being drafted at #22 overall.

from the summer, but who knows. he is going to demand nutty $$$. and with our current situation with resigning players..most likely not happen.

unless we cut bryan thomas, and pace. Id like to keep Pace, and have him take a pay cut.
