We need the first round bye. Having to win one less game is such a huge advantage when you have an undisciplined and inconsistent team like the Jets.
Just stop. Be happy you won. The Jets never made any negative comments about your team, with the exception of one comment by a guy who was traded from your team. Enjoy the Super Bowl. ps. Your fans need to stop whining about officiating, since basically you were handed a Super Bowl against Seattle by the NFL. The league was more concerned about the story line of Bettis going home to Detroit and finally winning a Super Bowl, than it was about having a properly officiated game.
First thing they need to do is make the home field an actual advantage...they play like shit at home ....since 06 they are a .500 team at home - one game under if you count a road loss to the Giants. The year it was 10-9, 9-0, and 10-6 loses -- you can't put up 15 points in three losses at home...just can't happen!
The next step is learning how to win games at home. 5-3 at home is unacceptable for a top tier team. What's the point of getting home field when you're no good at home? Under Rex Ryan the Jets are 9-7 at home. That has to change.
THAT. Hey actually no i don't care about the AFC East or the homefield advantage. It's been 2 years in a row that we represent in the AFCCG the next step is the Superbowl or else we become the Chargers of 2010's.
If anything is true for next year it should be that it will be a dogfight for the AFC East. Both the Jets and Patriots should be getting better. The idea that the Patriots will slide into oblivion is wishful thinking imo. But the Jets have certainly proven themselves to be a big game team so it should be reaaal interesting for at least a few more years. A bye should be helpful for teams. It allows players to heal and makes it a 2 game season to get to the big game. The Patriots need to remember how to play playoff football but given the youth of the team they can improve. The Jets need to figure out how to play 60 minute games. They did it for 2 of the 3 playoffs games, just not the last one.
This team plays better on the road while our home record is nothing special. More than anything, we need to play consistent football. Our team showed up for the third and fourth quarters. If either the offense or defense showed up for the 2nd quarter, we could have won this game........
It's a numbers game. Let's say you have 5 years of a 'window' of getting to the SB. Scenario 1: You are #5 and #6 WC seeds...you have to play 3 games...all on the road...all against teams that were ostensibly better than you. It's actually UNLIKELY that you will go 0-5 in opening games during that time but it's equally unlikely that you will go 5-0 or even 4-1 or advance deep multiple times. The Jets have already beaten the odds TWICE in getting to the AFC CG as a #5 and a #6. Scenario 2: You are a #1 or #2 seed....you have a bye....guys get healthy.....team is stronger....play ostensibly weaker teams....need to only beat 1 decent team and 1 good/great team to reach SB. Don't get me wrong...lots of #1's get upset in either the CG or the Divisonal Round...we did it to NE....you have to shake off the bye week and also not let the pressure of being a favorite get to you......Pittsburgh could NOT win in the Cowher years as a favorite, they won their 1st SB after the 1970's as a #6 seed....Elway and Denver flopped at 13-3 in 1997 and only won the SB when they were 10-6....2008 Giants floped after 12-4 in Divisonal Round to Iggles.

This is my concern as well. The Jets had a breakthrough in the sense that they finally beat the Pats in a game that really mattered. However; they need to figure out a way to play consistently throughout the year. 10-6, 11-5 may get you into the playoffs but it's unlikely to win you the AFC East or homefield advantage.
NY would have tore the roof off if we hosted this game let alone the Pats game. Every little bit helps.

If we are being realistic, he will be here next year. His stupid play-calling and lack of preparation will cost the Jets 3-4 games again, and we will finish with 10-12 wins, and be the 5 or 6 seed. And with a 5 or 6 seed, it will be @SD, @Indy/@NE, and then @Indy/@NE
The only teams on that list I see as being elite are NE, Baltimore, maybe Philly & maybe San Diego. Giants are on the lower end of maybe. Either way, I think the Jets of today can beat all of those teams.
The Cowboys with Ryan as their DC and a healthy Romo, will win at least 12 games next year. Do not sleep on the cowboys. The Jets have 10 very winnable games (which they must win 9 games out of), and 6 tough games (2 NE, Balt, Phi, Dal, and SD, of which they need to win at least 3, and probably 4)...
