...short pass to Brown that sealed the victory. Even though the Steelers went to four wide personnel we did not go nickel or dime to match. David Harris was left to try to cover a WR on a crossing route. I guess Rex, like everyone, else watching thought the Steelers were bluffing and would not have the nerve to put the ball in the air in that situation. Everyone was wrong. Just another somewhat small mistake in a game filled a lot of small mistakes.
Hey, you play to win the game. The STEELERS did with that call.. but if you watch the play again, you'll notice that Pace got caught in no mans land....AGAIN. He had a decision to make and took too long to make it. If he goes from the get, it's a sack or incomplete, he hesitated and that gave Ben time and the WR a chance to get open.
He should have had a feeling that the steelers defense was not stopping the jets and they wanted to put the nail in the coffin.
and he sends a blitz and Ben runs for 6? It was a tough situation. The Steelers just played better. It was a good run.
Bah........Smith/Pool (I can't remember) should of had the first pass by the rapist. It was behind the player and the Jet was a cunt hair too late to make a play. If they knock that one down, I guarantee the Steelers run the next play and the Jets get the ball back.......... It was a microcosm of the game though, a cunt hair short.
It's not like he sat back there and found somebody open within 2 seconds. He scrambled and made a great throw on the run. *shrugs*
It was not a time issue. If he wanted to he could have sent in a different personnel package. They have assistants in the booth whose whole job are to watch who is coming into the huddle so the defensive coordinator can match personnel wise. Rex just gambled that they would not throw it. It's not why we lost the game but there is no time in the whole season where we would EVER keep base personel against 4 WRs.
You have to play run there, dude. Just give credit where it's due. It was a great call, and especially after the game our OC had, rubbed a little more salt in, if you ask me.
If that's the case then he might as well put in the goal line defense. Maybe the Steelers were not planning to pass but Ben decided to go ahead once he saw the matchups. My point is only that both teams took a big gambles albeit differrent, Steelers with actually passing the ball and the Jets with personnel.
yeah, i get it. Give them a little bit of credit. Good call and a good pass. We didn't sell out either way and they still got it. Fuck us....but kudos to them. We won the Lions game because of the same shit.
