Well, as much as it sucks, we lost. How can this team improve and get better? What do we need to do to take the next step? Clearly we couldnt stop the run today, and we need fresh blood in the front seven, but where does it come from? Will signing our own guys be good enough to get back to where we were two years in a row? If it is good enough to reach a 3rd straight AFCCG will it be enough to break through? What do we need, and how do we get it?
The Jets need 5 players - an OLB, a DE, a NT, a S, and a TE. Other than that, they are set for next year.
Sometimes addition comes by subtraction. I really hope Schotty is not back. I doubt he'll be fired, so I am hoping that some delusional team hires him to be their HC. He and his father never had the stomach for a big game.
This team doesn't have to improve that much to win a SB, we clearly have a good team here. A passrusher, OL/DL depth and retain Holmes, Harris, and Edwards.
The Jets personnel are fine; they need to learn to play a complete game. I swear this team would be legendary if it could put complete games together. They haven't been able to, and that is why they're watching the SB from home. Edit: and of course fire Schotty Jr.
Every head coaching vacancy is filled, so he won't be hired by someone as a HC. There's little doubt he's going to be back next year, despite everyone's dislike.
I am confident that the Jets will do what it takes, and will not pinch pennies Tannenbaum is going to have a great off season
Need to keep both Holmes, Edwards, Harris, Crow and Pool. I wouldn't mind Ellis back as well if possible. We need to add a pass rusher, another DE, DT depth, another Safety and a kicker. The way Sanchez played in the second half, I am not too concerned about keeping Smith unless the price is right, but someone (Daniel Snyder) will probably offer him a silly contract...
I don't mind him coming back if he can finally learn from his mistakes. I just have serious doubts that's going to happen.
