I was12 years old in 1968. I had spinal fusion surgery in September and had Lee White of the Jets as my roommate in the recovery room as he'd had been injured the same day. I was home for three months and had to go to the Hospital For Special Surgery for physical therapy to learn how to walk again. I watched Super Bowl III from the hospital with a bunch of other kids in the pediatric orthopedic section lounge. I I want to watch the Jets back in the Super Bowl. Its time.
Coming from posters like yourself and BKJF, they mean a lot. We're gonna do it! JW: just tell me the blizzard will miss us this week. lololol.
My dad's partner had season tickets since the Polo Grounds. Very occasionally he'd give them to us. My dad took me to my first game in 76. First win of the season and the Lou Holtz era against OJ and the Bills. Namath came off the bench for the win, although all I really recall is how feeble he looked limping off the field. Dude practically gave his life for the franchise. Next was the 81 Wildcard heartbreaker against the Bills. That was the last game my dad would go to, the crowds, weather and disappoint just weren't for him. If the Jets win tonight, I may just go to NY and watch the Super Bowl with him.
Ha...really tough call..fine line between an all out snowstorm with really high totals...a mix storm..and a mix to rains storm. There will be a storm...50 miles here or there will tell the story. That really is a great great story though G77. Great thread. edit: I saw I posted in this thread yesterday and I thought I was having a stroke. Im like..wow...I cant remember posting this...am I losing it? Never checked the date until late late last night..lol.
Doesn't matter when....as Jets fans these posts still resonate even a year later. Hopefully in about 10 hours and another 2 weeks, we all have two new chapters to add to our lives.
Great fukn post man - just excellent!! I will NEVER abandon this team, they are a part of me. I was reminding my dad last night about how during that infamous 1-15 season, when the only game we won was in Arizona on a Keyshawn TD - I went running and screaming through the house like we won the Superbowl. I know now that I did this because of pride, because I care so much. When the Mets lost in Game 7 to the Cardinal on a nasty Wainwright curveball, with Beltran's bat nestled safely on his shoulder - I was at the game, I sat in the rain outside the stadium for 2 hours before I got in my car and drove home. This may have been the worst feeling ever. This cannot happen again, this will not happen again, the Jets must find a way to win this game and defy that feeling to manifest itself in the hearts of Jets fans - we deserve more! Your right jetliner28, it does take soul to be a Jets fan, and its time that the souls of ALL Jets fan has a little glimpse of the other side. J-E-T-S JETSJETSJETS!!
I do not think my true sentiments about this season can be expressed anymore eloquently than this! O.P Amazing story and excellent post.
