Living out his big Green Fran-tasy Mike Francesa's sustained rancor toward the Jets has little to do with the Jets and a lot to do with Mike Francesa. This is a fellow who referred to the team's late owner, Leon Hess, as "a senile old fool" -- until 1997, when Hess hired Francesa's semi-imaginary pal, Bill Parcells, as Jets coach and general manager. At that point, Francesa used this column (and this sucker columnist) to issue his "Kinder, gentler me" proclamation, while he flipped to respectfully refer to Leon Hess as "Mr. Hess." Slightly delusional, Francesa began to fancy himself the Jets general manager -- or GM in waiting -- even parading about in a Jets team jacket. While I didn't notice whether "Staff" was embroidered on the front, so much for those stern, on-air lectures about fundamental journalism he delivers to the serfs at WFAN. With Parcells' departure, Francesa's unrequited desire to run the team was spoiled, and it was back to knocking the Jets, especially when the team demonstrated colossal gall by not sucking up to him. someone, ANYONE, please call him today... his opening monologue is basically calling out Jets fans for being "satisfied with the trip to AFCCG". PLEASE call him and say that is absolutely absurd. We are cautious, but we expect to win, and want desperately to win it all. He could NOT have a worse read on a fan base. This is not about Tubby bagging on the Jets... he is BAGGING ON JETS FANS.
Thats because every Jet call hes taking this week were either not true Diehard fans or Giant fans pretending to be Jets. When the rival station has Jet guests on all week he will lose a decent amount of the fans that matter
